    Very true.

There are 3 ways guns can be effective.

-Slow rate of fire but high damage ( like the PKM, usefull long range but not usefull up close )

-High rate of fire low damage ( like SMG's and M249, usefull in medium and close, meaning you dont need much accuracy you just need the high rate of fire to kill the enemy quicker)

-In between, Rifles around 600 rpm.

Its stupid having a SMG designed for close quater defense when its a slow rate of fire and hardly any damage. Yeah some SMG's bolt locks back for a split second to have better accuracy. But this aint seen here as its still inaccurate.

What this gun needs is Medium accuracy and 22 - 24 damage, as a 5.7x28mm bullet is meant to peirce armor and is basically a smaller version of a 5.56x45mm round, It is NOT equal to a ****ing 9x19mm round.

Either put the damage up, accuracy up, or rate of fire.

The gun is useless. I only use it because im not yet sick of it, but it takes ages to kill someone if not even damage someone at short and medium range at all, and you will often empty 25 rounds just trying to kill one light soldier.

I'm glad you feel good, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an awful weapon.

The P90 is pretty sucky. I use AT kit a lot, and as you can see, I use the submachine guns an awful lot. (I played medic when I first started playing BF2 - so dont mock me, since I stopped playing medic I've been AT).

I know my submachine guns. PP19 is the best, MP5 can often be the worst due to having such a small clip.

I think I'll stick to the MP5 over the P90 though.

i realize you checked out the numbers on this gun, (p90) and i realize i guess, they suck.

But i love the gun, and i seem to use it fairly well. Better then the default machine gun that comes with the AT class.]
FOr me its ...all about the mood. DAO..for those times i wanna drop 4 guys standing at a flag...or the p90 for when i wanna be somewhat sneaky.

            My $.02...

I've been playing a little bit with the P90 and I think it does a 1/2 (or slightly less than 1/2) decent job of providing a real PDW for the AT class.

In semi-auto mode with the sight it's a good stand-off weapon to put a few in a target before he can think about rushing you. In full-auto mode it gives you enough rounds per clip to at least scare off anyone who's after you and who is trying to reload to finish you off.

I think the DAO gives the AT class too much of an assault-type feel, when the role is meant to be that of support vs. armored targets. This class is meant to have a PDW-type gun for self-defense, not a run-n-gun auto-shotty for playing Rambo.

That said, +1 on giving it a higher full-auto ROF and higher damage against armoured personnel!

I'm gonna give it some more time...it's gonna be tough to not select the DAO...but I'm gonna try.

I do like the idea of people realizing that they were just killed by the worst gun in the game

It's not that bad guys. Sure the RoF is a big disadvantage but it is the most accurate SMG due to its lower stance modifiers not to mention a red dot scope with higher zoom. The 50 round magazine is also far more than a superficial advantage. When you are only dishing out 19 damge per bullet you tend to need to use quite a few of them so having an extra 20 bullets over the MP5 is a big deal.

The PP-19 is clearly the best SMG but the P90 is almost as good (maybe even as good) as the MP5 and Type 88.

What is the point of having a red dot scope and better zoom with that kind of inaccuracy? It gives me this false sense of ability to take out distant targets.

When using this gun at the ideal range, the scope becomes useless.

First up why do you think it's hugely inaccurate? It's almost as accurate as the pre post G3 incase you haven't noticed. When prone with the P90 it acctually has quite a reasonable effective (well semi-effective anyway)range and the ability to place your bullets better always helps even if it's not as important as on a sniper rifle.

Ideal range is a bit of a joke for the P90. It doesn't have one but it's versatile and give you a fighting chance in most situations which is more than any of the other AT weapons do.

As for the false sense of ability to take oyt distant targets well that last for all of about 2 minutes.

Like I have said before...I'm going to give it a chance.

Those are just my first impressions. I have taken out quite a few enemies with it. But MAN...so many times have I had the element of COMPLETE surprise, prone, controlled bursts...and still, they fire off a few rounds and I'm dead before they are.

I have managed a couple of killing shots at medium range with the scope.

Fortunately, you have more than one weapon so you don't need it to be that versatile. DAO-12 + pistol > any SMG. There is nothing the SMG can do that one or the other of these can't do better.

So then, let's be plain - the P90 is useless. It's crap. It's arguably the worst unlock in the game. Here's why...

Weapon effectiveness in BF2 can be measured on three primary dimensions:
                              1) Damage
                              2) Accuracy
                              3) Rate of Fire

The philosophy here is simple. Either:
                              1) Hit hard
                              2) Hit where you want, when you want
                              or
                              3) Put so many bullets into the air that it doesn't matter how accurate you are and how much damage you do because the target is going to be buried in hot lead anyway

The best weapons (AK-101, G36E) have a good mix of all of them. Most weapons have good showings in 2 categories. Poor weapons excel in 1. The P90 excels in NONE.

                              Using my numbers above:
                              1) It does 19 damage, the lowest in the game. Lower than a pistol.
                              2) It shares the worst deviation in the game, .6, with the other submachine guns. (Shotguns do not count in this comparison because they're supposed to spread)
                              3) Its rate of fire is 600, less than all of the other SMGs (MP5, PP-19, Type 85, MP7).

Superficial advantages like the red-dot sight and 50 round clip are just that, superficial. The sight is pointless on a gun that deviates so badly. The clip is pointless because you'll rarely live long enough to use it all. Another interesting note on clip size is that you can actually fire 60 rounds from the MP5 (including the reload) in the same time it takes to fire 50 and reload with the P90.

In a game where "spike damage" (lots of damage in a short amount of time) is critical to take out your target before it heals, runs, or fights back, the P90 is absolutely horrible.

That means the not only is the P90 NOT an upgrade to the default SMGs, it's not even a equal alternative. It's worse.

I am sorry that the P90 sucks so badly - hell, I wasted an unlock on it too. I remember the days of CS where its rate of fire was just about all it had going for it. I had high hopes for the P90, but it really is lame.

I recommend the DAO-12 if you plan on operating in close. Otherwise, give the MP5/PP-19 another try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with their adjustments, and find them infinitely more useful than the P90.

what's WORSE is that they completley did the opposite of the weapon itself, it has moderate damage (better than the M16 in any situation) is accurate (highly) at 200M and has 900RPM rate of fire....here they put out this low damage, low accuracy, 600RPM hunk o' junk
