    Its not specifically worded as illegal - it says that server admins have the option to make this a rule under Private Server rules. It came about as an optional rule because of the whole idea of disruption of play or destroying friendly vehicles - something like that.

    It is not a global rule - it is an option that is decided per server whether to enforce or not.

    FROM THE ROE:
    3 LOCAL (PRIVATELY RENTED) RANKED SERVER RULES MODIFICATIONS

    These are rules that are not enforced upon in EA’s public ranked servers but may be modified in privately rented ranked servers. These rules are decided by clan administrators for those servers and as long as they do not contradict any global rules enforced by EA are considered valid for those servers.

    This would include but not limited to:

    * § Artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases may be prohibited.
    * § Prolonged or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
    * § Using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
    * § Impersonating clan members.
    * § Using C4 on jeeps, or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.
    * § Clans may change or customise rules, provided they don’t violate the above ROE rules.
    Re-read the ROE for yourself:

      Case in point.
      1. Dolphin Divers: The low-life players who DD'ed made DICE adjust jumping and going in and out of prone.
      2. Bunnyhoppers: Made DICE ajust jumping and shooting or throwing.
      3. C-4 Chuckers: Made DICE adjust the rate at which you can deploy mines and C-4
      4. Toobers (the most hated): Made DICE adjust the arming range of grenades.

      Let me knoe how you feel and add your anecdotes.
      I understand your point, but I believe that Counter-Strike had a similar incident when the excellent 1.3 version was changed to the 1.4 craptacular version. I was a huge CS player for years and played up through Cal-I and even CPL one year (Didn't get far). But I had never seen such a backlash from players in any game's changes than what I saw after the 1.4 CS update. I remember I used to check out how many servers there were available for CS pre-1.4 and then every week or two after it. The numbers were staggering for how many people didn't want the 1.4 "Bunny Hopping Fix" because it made gameplay incredibly one demensional. I actually quit playing it after about 8 weeks of the patch being released because it just wasn't fun anymore. Now I see DICE/EA doing the same thing to BF2. Sure, I hate bunnyhoppers in BF2, but I know how to do it too, so I can always fight back. Personally, I think they should just make it impossible to jump when your sprint bar is empty, but that's just me. If you keep lowering the limit of the variety in the controls, the game will become boring because there just won't be a high enough level of skill to keep the most experienced players interested. I don't like DD or Bunnyhopping, but I think they are essential to keep advanced players interested.
