It is still possible to kill the hell out of people and have a great time with the Cobra attack helicopter. The so-called improvement to the AA system is still avoidable. So go and fly to America's great destinations. Continue spraying and bombing the crap out of anything that moves.

P.S.
For any reason your having trouble flying a chopper because of the new AA system, stay the f_ck away from the choppers, period! Go drive a jeep into a ditch.

Aint that the truth. And please heed the warning, nothing worse than stealing the chopper from a VOIPed out chopper crew that is helping your team. Please, if you can't fly, don't. Now it actually takes a high level of skill to stay alive in the air and people that don't know how to shouldn't be trying to.

I agree. the first time I tried the patch, I had my disliikes. After everyone complaining (I'm a chopper pilot), I was getting ****ed. Then tonight, I realised it's not all that bad if you are a SKILLED pilot.

In a normal 32 player Sharqi tonight, my gunner was 104-7 . . . . pretty damn good I say :).

As long as you are an experienced pilot, and have a experienced gunner (choppers), you should be ok. You DEFINITELY have to pull off some difficult evasions though.

I played sharqi last night, got gold and about 80 points, 68 or so from the helo. Died a few times, but nothing really horrible. Just had to watch the stinger sites closer.

just takes some skills. I havent flown yet...but I am not much of a pilot. I am skilled in the cockpit, don't get me wrong...I just don't fly much...I prefer ground stuff lol

Yep, I agree.

I was pulling off some crazy stunts to get away from that mobile AA. :) I find it funner now. More of a challenge against those that hated us before the patch! LOL

yeah i own anyway played some 64 dragon valley yesterday, when the second one with most score had 20, i had 84. Tvmissile is shorter but its easily adapted

and to fight aa? just flare once, turn around, change to second seat and fire a tvmissile in his head

the only problem i have is that u can berely dodge a friendly "lock on". when they tune up AAs, friendly AAs are accurate as well. I've seen plenty of AA TKs already in this patch. Without this problem, keeping alive is merely more frustrating but still bearable.

Friendly fire is definetly a problem. I'm pretty sure my deaths are about 50% tks from friendly fire. Gotta love those helpful noobs though they mean well.

Let me see now - - if I can shoot this rocket right past my guy and hit that enemy fighter in after burner dropping flares I can hit him. And if I shoot all of them I'm sure I will get the bad guy.

I like to think im pretty ace in the attack chopper... can really rack up some kills, my problem seems to be I always get a noob gunner that does nothing but spam the machine gun at tanks and such.

I remember saying on a server "Can anyone gun a chopper or what" and one guy was like "I dont think so..." so we hook up and I let him fly while I was gunner, within 2 minutes we had over 20 kills from tv, gun and rockets. He diddnt just rocket whore it either, he was actually lining me up for some wicked missiles.

Ive noticed on the maps in bf2 if you have 1 good jet pilot who can cover you, with an ace chopper team it takes a lot of punishment to be beaten.

Nothing is more satisfying on BF2 for me then having a whole squad pinned down by APC's and Tanks and troops, flying over letting the apc have it with the rockets, blitzing the tank with tv, then circling overhead picking off the troops before flying back to re-arm while your squad pushes on out...

Last night me and my pilot had one of the best rounds ever without getting shot down. Now because of the patch, AA is getting bombed 24/7. Last night, after bombing the crap out of the AA site's, nobody bothered trying to shoot us down anymore. I guess it wasn't worth it to them to die so much, just to try and take us down. It was soo much fun. I think I must have bombed the same 2 guys like 10 times each before they all gave up, LMAO!

I have to admit that after all the bitching on the forums I was somewhat surprized on Kubra Dam and Clean Sweep and Sharqi and so on that I was still being blown away all over the place by attack choppers and bombed to bits by jets...

The AA improvement are only of any use against pilots that alow themselves to be seen and shot at... But a chopper (or jet) pilot who knows where the AA site is and flies accordingly seems to do just fine...

I have not tried the Daqing or Delean maps with the new patch yet, they should be interesting...

Not actually true. Quite often you'll have full lock on an enemy chopper or jet and the AA missiles will spontaneously veer off and TK something else. Nothing noobish about it.

Ummmm NO!!! I completely disagree with this way of thinking. There is nothing that entitles you to being able to get the chopper just because you are a better pilot. I am by no means a good pilot but I am getting better. The only way to learn and get better is by flying. Does it hurt the the team? Possibly but since I stink at flying you shouldnt have to wait long for the chopper to respawn anyway. I have never TKed for a vehicle before but have been TKed many times by many of you so called experianced pilots so you can get in the chopper. I am not saying you personnally did it. Sorry if this seems like I am flaming you personally I am not. All I am saying is that I paid the same amount of money for this game as everyone else and Ill be damned if I am going to let someone tell me I can't use a feature of this game because someone else is better at it.
