The truth about picking up mines

It's always been possible. Many people know this - this thread is to fill the gap of the folks who don't. The engineer can pick up his mines (and enemy mines) using his wrench. It was like this in bf1942, BFV, and was carried over in BF2.

    It's in the manual. =)

If this has changed in 1.2 (I doubt it has) then please accept my apologies.

If everyone already knew this - then again, please accept my apologies. I got the impression that not many people knew of this feature.

So you can't just hit G - at least its still possible.

i'm pretty sure you remove them and add them to your stock (I'm sure this is the case if they are your own mines - but I'm not positive about enemy mines being added to your stock).

You need to use your wrench to pick up enemy mines (and your own I'm pretty sure).

you dont need to pick your own mines up becuase as default friendly mines and claymores have FF turned on. And yes the wrenck picks them up.

Talus - I understand how busy moderators can get. I'm one at forumplanet. But read the bold in my first post. :p

You mean FF turned off? I thought FF on was default (even though 1.2 gave admins the option). So you WOULD need to pick up your own mines.

            Maybe you just mis-typed.

Can you disarm claymores with the wrench? From behind of course...

And after 75+ hours with the Engineer class, here is me telling you that you might be wrong about claymores. I've definitely disarmed claymores, but it was back in 1.02/1.03, so they might've removed that feature.

Actually I'm wrong about both. I just fired up singleplayer to test both aspects. Mines wrenched are re-added to your inventory and claymores can be wrenched.

                    0 points for me!

Edit: Deleted post prior to this, was misleading and uninformative anyway,

Tested wrenching c4, can't do it. Unless I'm doing something wrong again.

You've always been to pick up and put mines in your inventory with the wrench as engineer, done it time and time again...You weren't able to pick up C4/claymores with it but you could detonate the claymores with grenades...will have to try to disarm the claymores with the wrench next time...you didn't used to be able to do that...

No, you definitely used to be able to. And based on X's test and some posts on PBF, you still can. A new reason to have an engineer in your squad!

                            Nope. Not allowed.
