you are saying thank you and you didn't even try it out??

AA had to be more effective, but now it's like one big aimbot, they are way to much improved, now they hit choppers from miles away, shoot down half the choppers on there spawn points, you don't have to do anything anymore, just get in, locks superfast, shoot shoot, chopper is down and nothing you could do about it

I think AA is not Overpowered.Hell the best experience of flying helicopter is when you are engaging AA and escaping from missiles. That is pretty exciting. One can still own with choppers, in case you don't know 2 AA missiles won't shoot down a chopper as like in before. If 2 stinger hit a chopper, the hp of the chopper will be red but not bad enough to cause fire in the machine to self detonate, this is my experience from playing SPecial Forces I don't know about vanilla. But since the patch ,it is true I find it much more difficult to dodge missiles and my k/d ratio has decreased. It is still possible to dodge missiles by hiding behind objects(buildings basically). In the open area, even super manoever of helicopter won't save heli's ass from being hit. Hiding behind objects makes helicopter superior than planes in dodging missiles . Helicopter ability is definitely reduced, but I believe if one has skill one can stilll rule but not as much as before. After the patch I also find it difficult to engange multiple targets, if you are diving towards a tank/apc and AA vehicle is firing towards you,you are pretty much dead. Not like in the prepatch, you can dive in destroy target and hit back at the AA vehicle. Basically that's about it, ooh yes after getting the patch, I managed to shoot down a JSF with an IGLA after 300 hours of gameplay. Pretty satisfying!

          Agreed!
Why did they lower the choppers health? Wouldnt it have been enough to lower the amount of missiles and the TV missile firing distance? Especially now that the AA are so extremely powerful. Most of the times flares wont help anymore, u still get hit by at least one missile from a stinger. And a car can take down a heli in no time. It was pretty easy be4, but now its just ridiculous...

The thing is, it was always the planes that were the big problem. A skilled pilot could avoid getting killed easily, and the changes in this patch has made the planes much more balanced. Sure sometimes u joined a server with an amazing chopper pilot, but most of the time it really isnt that hard to take down a chopper. And now that they have lowered the firing distance of the TV missiles the choppers have to stay closer to the targets, making it easier to shoot them down.

Take 70% of my chopper kills, take 30% of my chopper deaths, consider that done in past 35-40 days (that's when I started "whoring" alone in a chopper - so, I was not a gunner for a pilot, I was both at once), and calculate. I think I had chopper K/D less than 1.00, 5-6 weeks ago.

Since I play for fun, and for months, I've piloted at least 100 hours for others (most of it for gunner I usually fly with), including least 10 hours of transport chopper flying. Hell, I had 0:19 K/D in a round (my death streak), annoying BH with Mi17 (and throwing things at it), and it was BIG fun. I died a lot, but they didn't do much damage either.

            Keyword - fun.

Score? Talk to someone who cares.
Check your graph for kills. Its getting steeper but its not a drastic improvement. I don't think you have the right to speak about how good you are. Sorry.

... do you even understand the graphs? Do you even understand the concept of "average"? If EA provided data for time period, it'd be easier to make more "tuned" averages which would paint different pictures. Not to mention that data collected includes all kits/rounds, not only chopper ones.

              Ever used MRTG, maybe?

What you think about me or how good I am - I don't care. I wasn't even talking about how good I am (I'm too old to need any kind of "affirmation" anymore), I was talking about chopper whoring and how EASY it was. There are guys better than me, there are guys weaker than me. I've fought them - some you win, some you lose. No big deal.

Fact is that there will be no more (extensive) chopper whoring after this patch, and that's a good thing.

Hmmm, why am I even bothering? Go figure...

                I'm very disappointed.

The point was to BALANCE the game. As a pilot in planes, I agree that before the Planes were just too good.

But all they did was take it to the other extreme. The AA is now like an AIMBOT. Really no skill to it, just shoot and kill.

Moderation would of been good, where an average pilot would be downed, but as is the new AA is way too powerful. You dodge one missle with your flares, but don't have a chance on the second.

The point was to Balance the game, not totally destroy one aspect of it.

The particular graph I was looking at was the kill graph. It gets a wee bit steeper but there is no gargantuan improvement.

And I'm saying you don't have a right to speak about how easy chopper whoring is. You die to much and kill too little.

It all the depends on what your definition of whoring is. If you're talking about gigantic scores with an average K/D of 5-6 or more that will not go away. If you're talking about circling a flag for a long time then you're partially right. You need to repair more often due to small arms fire.

I would say they ARE balanced now, a chopper or plane are still at least as good as a tank/APC, more so with a talented crew.

And those who complain about stinger sites being overpowered: There aren't very many of them, they're in obvious places with almost no cover, if you strafe them or have your gunner shoot at them, they'll be dead immediately.

Shouldn't the next step be making knifes and assault rifles have the same lethality? I mean having assault rifle users getting a better score than knifers isn't very balanced now is it? You need to understand the differance between balance and E-penis envy.

(i'm not dissatisfied with lethality of AA only the autoaim nature of it)

The BF2 world is free from oppression.

Balances things out a bit I think

First off this is unreal. Even the planes die super easy. Now all the noobs is going to get kills left and right. Even a nooby pilot will be taking down a plane because all it requires is you to be behind someome for one second. The choppers I won't even go into them.. They are nerfed.

I'm gonna make this easy for people like Kattspya.. BF2 was meant to be a TEAM game. MEaning, teamwork to achieve goals and wins..

If you want to jet whore and copter whore, here is what you do. Get some of the people on your team to play sniper. Shouldn't be too difficult. Then have them camp the AA sites... Someone pops into the AA seat, headhot 'em. The Jet or Heli is free to do its damage....

Now, to stop snipers from camping AA sites. We can have team members counter-snipe, or any number of other sniper elimination tactics. The commo allows players wo identify sniper locals..

So really what you need to take out an AA site and Flag position is, TEAMWORK... Amazing but true...

There is most definitely a skill to using the AA sites.

Just sitting in them permanently is likely to get you killed as you show up like a sore thumb on jet radar. Believe me that since 1.2 jets are making it a priority to take out AA sites and therefore timing when you jump into one to make a shot at a helo or jet is now extremely crucial.
