For those downloading the german 1.2 patch

Just a precaution...I wouldn't download it. I've heard that it seems buggy and incomplete. If this is the case...that a "test" version of it is released (unfinished), when the real version DOES come out, you may have to download the full install patch (big) instead of the smaller upgrade from the older version.


IE

Patch A
Patch Btest
Patch B (upgrade new)
Patch C (new)
You have patch A. Patch B is known to upgrade A to (new). However, if you download Patch Btest, B cannot patch the game to new since it is looking for A. You would then be forced to download the large Patch C.

I'm guessing it's the final BETA release than the Final. That's why EA servers are running it - they are the test servers.

Exactly my concern. Once the real patch is released, you may be forced to download the "full install" patch instead of the upgrade (since the upgrade would upgrade our current version to full, not a test version to full).

Or, one still has the 1.12 patch left so they can install that first, then use the ~80 mb patch

I downloaded it just to see what it's like. However, i would highly suggest you download the OFFICIAL RELEASED VERSION Via Ea's mirror sites, some features of the patch seems out of order and the patch might not be fully complete, we are not sure but whatever the reason, download the EA version.

I've downloaded 2 so far:

As both MD5's were the same, I made a copy of my BF2 folder and then installed the patch. I'll download the official release later on and if the MD5 from that is the same I'll probably leave it, if however it's different I'll restore my original BF2 folder and use the official patch.

So you just copied your bf2 folder from program files and pasted it on another drive???

Yes. Also exported the EA and DICE entries from the registry, although I don't think there were actually any changes.

It's not "buggy" at all. All the servers are "laggy" right now because there are only a handful of servers and people from all over the world are using the limited number of servers.

I've played with the 1.2 patch for about 3 hours tonight and I've only encountered problems when people from Europe with 300 pings use a particular server.

Don't be paranoid, this is the real patch and it's awesome.

Well from what ive seen so far its a pile of crap noob tube still explodes if you shoot it straight at the floor. It only bounces of walls

AA is rediculous ive flown with some of the top ranked jet pilots in this new patch and they all agree its pathetic that some random noob who just bought the game can jump on a stinger and shoot down people with 300+ hours experience

Snipers are stupidly acurate so all the noobs choose sniper however a team full of snipers tend to camp and dont take flags

Congrats EA you Fl_lcK3d up this game even more.

when you hiding in a container you cant jump up and fire an AT over anymore to hit that tank on the other side, insted your expected to run out the open end of the dumpster and challenge the tank head on with your AT rocket like rambo

C4 from chopper is also rather lame and pathetic now as you have to click for everythrow so unless you sit hovering on that tank below and let him shoot you you cant get any c4 on it

Actaully im not mad at all as I will work with it and learn to take out every AA site in sequence as they respawn and not worry about enemy jets as they will be to busy avoiding AA from my team to chase me.

I will fill that in with bombing some tanks jeeps etc

So ground will get raped even harder than before.

I just feel sorry that 99% of people that like to fly for fun will never be able to stay in the air for more than 2 minutes.

Worked awsome for me, but killed my brothers BF2! It was like snipers were breeding! lol!

GOOD NEWS is system restore worked fine so if the case is that i cant update the official i will restore, then update.
