I agree with this post! :)
I have seen guys get 70-80 kills in a round and die 2 times.....thats WAY unrealistic.

And so real teamwork will prevail. If the game is played as a team then your infantry should be able to take out the AA's fast enough to allow for air support. Being apart of the 21CW tournement this will become top priority to keep our air intact.

not with a good pilot and squad. a good squad will bail out prematurly if needed (at least when they are close enough to the objective or transportation) and a good pilot will avoid aa. its a new battlefield, no more orbiting your bh and slaughtering the enemy. a transport heli should only be full in transport, using it as combat support results in death, as it should.

Maybe Dice will loose a lot of their aircraft whores because of this patch, but gain more people on the ground = fine with me.
"us on the ground" It's not about us and them. It's about balance. I'm rarely ever in aircraft. But I'm just as concerned and a bonafide "air whore" of the over nerfing of aircraft.

Air superiority never really got to me in this game. Could they get points and great K/D ratios? Yes. Can a guy in a jet get flags? No.
I'm all about winning and getting flags.

Most people who were moaning over aircraft were just stat worshippers who were mad at the K/D ratio getting messed up.

Aircraft guys have been ****ing **** up in this game ever since BF42. Only in BF2 is there SO MUCH crying for nerfs. People just need to get out there with a kit of their choice and get some flags.

I'm really hoping things are balanced. Jets, if AA is now a threat... maybe they should be a high priority target for the TEAM to take out.

I think most people are in AA and being snipers right now just to check the new **** out.

I'm hoping this patch is balanced.

I'm a jet whore, and just tryed 1.2 out. Stingers/AA toke me down in no time. Even used "my" tricks to get rid of the missiles (1.12) didn't work. Now in 1.2 they keep killing me.. - But hey, that's REALISM. Ain't it?

the problem is with the culture in the minds of the pilots of bf2 before the patch. they all used to NOT fear anything. Now they should learn how to tackle the AA and the chopper pilots should learn how to benefit from the terrains.

hmm, this is kinda sad. I dont know who is in charge over at Dice. I think they screwed up this game when they decided on making heatseeking missles.... I liked the way DC was. The missles flew straight and worked if you were good. The AA was effective, if you were good, and jets were effective if you were good. Nothing was over simplified.

Aren't they fans of their own game?????????? or do they just blindly and stupidly try random fixes and hope they work.

This doesnt feel like a battlefield game anymore, it is amature. Poorly made and poorly patched
Even Battlefield: Vietnam was better than this......

Find real solutions to problems, instead of just nerfing stuff left and right...

The ground AA however I agree it will be manned heavily for a while until the pro,s start not making it as fun to sit in one or gets boring...It will make for better gameplay and these so-called baseraper pilots will have to work more along the frontlines as should be.

I think it will be more like 42 and the AA will be something to take notice of so Im pleased with that much, but we will just have to see until I make my final decision
I've tried it out on Wake Island just now, and I agree.

The ground AA being 100% lethal is just fine, I like it. But the Air to Air missiles are just crazy. I took down a J10 that did a super turn and was actually coming back across towards me and the missiles STILL hit him. Its nice that the J10 is more vulnerable now, but I dont like the mechanism now. Its way too easy to shoot down other pilots. I used to like hunting them down and gunning them and the occasional good missile shot. Now its lockon and let em rip and insta kill. Just not fun anymore, whether you are doing the killing or being killed by another pilot.

regardless, i still did well on the map

                    LOL. Another flawed post.
Its not fear, son. if you get killed no matter how hard you try. That is absolutely not fair.

Actually, you can have teamwork while in a plane. Whenever my team tries to cap flags, I keep a lookout on the nearby APCs and tanks and dive-bomb them to defend my team... it helps indirectly.

But of course 90% of the time teamwork doesn't exist in the game in pub servers...

BTW, as I haven't tried the new patch, will you still get punished if you run over a lamer upon takeoff?

But it was totally fair for a jet to fly about killing everything it sight without any worry from the ground.

Yes, Ive taken out a jet with a hand gun, with an AA. But Ive only done it once or twice. You guys had nothing to fear. Now you have and I hope you all die and give up on jets, maybe then we can all call you guys noobs cos ya cant use a gun to save your life. :P.

I'm a jet hater cos I cant fly. (and it looks like I'm never going to now) Flame away. (if needed)

Colony yes the air2air does really suck,I think it should at least take some skill to down another plane....As far as ground AA its just going to have to be dealt with I kill it all when I see it its rather easy IMO..But some maps I just dont klnow where all the AA is located,I will staying off several Chinese maps until I locate these AA sites as I have no clue whwere they are.

Went 20- 0 on Wake first match, the worst match Ive been in was the one we played and I died 4 times,3 from mobile AA...It will help to have a good wingman now aswell .

                            WHAT A JOKE
Infantry should NOT be able to take down a ****ing multimillion dollar jet. Some little $200 AA emplacement vs. many many millions of dollars jet who wins? OBviously it's air superiority for a reason. Air wins wars. And that's the way BF2 should be.

Only the mobile AA should have a chance against jets and they DID kill jets in 1.12. A slight beef and make it like the USS essex and that's it. IT's fine.

You people that think "ground pounders" should be able to take down a highly skilled pilot have RUINED this game.

p.s. before the flames: check my stats for team-hero or saltburn and you'll see I'll own you on the ground as well as in the air.
and I probably won't bother reading what you reply.

Yes they should, because it balances the game out and ensures everything has an achilles heel in the game. Besides I'm sure IGLA's and Stingers cost a little more than $200, and I think you'll find they fairly reliable at shooting down jets - otherwise they wouldn't be nearly so popular with insurgents :)

At the end of the day this isn't your game, or indeed my game - it's DICE's game and they can do anything they like with it. If they want to push people towards concentrating on the aspects of the game they see as important (teamwork, squads, tactics) then so be it.

Me and my friends happened to like BF2 because of those features, and it got damned annoying when half your team were bouncing around on the carrier hoping to get a piece of that juicy 40-0 KD ratio. It's equally annoying when you hear a jet fly in for a bombing run because you know nothings going to stop it...you just start deciding where to respawn next before the bombs hit. I don't think it's a coincidence that we didn't notice much of a change in the gameplay, other than the PKM becoming the hammer of the gods! The ones that will have to adjust are, as we all know, the dolphin divers, the bunny hoppers and the jetwhores (and there's a big difference between a jetwhore and a good pilot)

Aircraft are finally vulnerable to ground pounders.
Ok...jets, yes you are right...choppers....have always been vulnerable to ground.

All you noobs in 1.12...jeez all you had to do was shoot a vodnik at me, or wait for teh flare drop and then fire...or better yet, LEAD YOUR TARGET WHEN IN MOBILE AA....thats all it took...now choppers are hopeless...takes ZERO skill to shoot them down....

Anways salt burn is right, the mobile AA just needed to be more like the Essex....

And please...dont ever make a game balance solution rely on teamwork....that never ends pretty....

A game should be balanced without teamwork...the ones that use teamwork just have an advantage...if that makes sense...
