OK guys!! Thank you all for your support! I've now got my two badges, but they still haven't come up. Every stat service I check is updated but wont show my two new badges. And yes, I did play to the end of the round on both maps.
Is it stat bugs haunting again or do I just need to wait for a few hours?

Direct confrontation in order to get the knife badge won't give you anything. You can play any kit but you have to use sniper tactics and behavior, in other words sneak out behind enemy lines, preferably close to a spawn point. When you see them respawning attack them with your knife. You can pobably get at least 2 kills like this before you get killed. When you do, try the same thing again. Pistol is alot easier and even direct attack is allowed. You'll be surprised how accurate the pistol is. I got my knife badge on Wake Island, and my pistol badge on Karkland. Just remember, forget about the points in that round, patience is what you need. You'll be very happy when you get the badge, and you will like being first sergeant versus master sergeant.

I got both my bas. pistol/knife and veteran pistol/knife on Karkand. The key to getting the bulk of your kills is the Hotel spawnpoint. As USMC, spawn forward and rush down the street to the right of the spawnpoint. Lurk at the corner of the alley accessways. People tend to rush right to the area with the boxes south of the hotel flag and congregate. Peek around the corner, and then run in and get a few easy knife kills. If you survive that, rush building with the ladder right next to the spawnpoint. Inevitable, someone will be sniping or laying down covering fire with the MG.

That's how I got my badge. I ran down the alleyway (there were no spawn kills as nobody spawned there) around the corner and knifed 5 guys as they failed to do anything useful. I think in a map like Karkand, people are so afraid to TK that they just don't function effectively when there are lots of them. My other two kills came from rooftop snipers, one on top of the Hotel.
