I think they should raise the requirements for the officers ranks... they just seem abit low... I mean I have just over 50,000 points and last i checked there were like 10,000 people with higher scores than me. That equates to just a ton of officers.
Also, I think the generals shouldn't be based purely on score. I think the top, say 25 or so, players at the time should receive the generals ranks. As it stands now, there's more than 30 that are over 180,000.

20,000 - 1st Sergeant

30,000 - Sergeant Major

45,000 - Sargeant Major of the Corps

60,000 - 2nd Lt

Or something like that...

So how points would be needed for Master Sergeant now, once the patch is out Sly.

I think the numbers flying around are all duff, why would you make the limit achievable in a month for so many players and below that which some players already have? Doesnt serve the longevity of achievement i assume EA want, demoting people in the future isnt a real possibility as it just wouldnt be popular.
Making people play a kit for 100 hours is daft, i think 500 hours global time is fair, i got most of me basic badges and veteran from watching other players do it, not via experiance. 100 hours is daft, thats more than twice my working week and i would learn nothing more after 20 hours in a class, i play the game and can see every plausable tactic other people play- i neednt then try it myself. Expert badges are achievable, but its a 1 in a million to get them via random chance, knife certainly shouldnt be based on in a round score- more that you are prepared to use the weapon over a longer term, the game simply doesnt play in a way that allows you to 'naturally' earn such a badge.

Expert badges denotes dedication and skill in a specific kit, or weapon, why shouldn't having it reflect earning it? They aren't supposed to be easy that someone can just get through the course of normal play, they are intended to make you be better at that class, or weapon and try to excel at it, excelling takes time.

Yes but 32 players on a team trying to get an explosive badge aint that either.- just recently ive noticed people more desperate for certain badges and you really dont achieve anything by running around chucking c4 in a suicide bid- that aint gameplay thats suicide. Theres a special button to press for that.
Im not saying make them easy, but who is honestly going to say they diddnt waste a normal round or ten getting a knife badge that means they have no extra skill than that they are prepared to run around for a long while using a knife- not like thats exceling in the use of the weapon- what were they up against at the time... a tank or some spawning peeps. I would accept them as they are but i can sit in a copter on Mashtur and get me expert engineer badge, for no extra skill or ability or kit than anyone else in that seat. I dont want to do that precisely for that reason but kit and vehicle is generally all that is really all that is required, not the noble challenge you suggest.

It's impossible to get the Expert Vehicle badges in time.

I don't think that there will be any badge requirements at all.

what I love is how many people are complaining about the ranks. So what if a lot of people will be officers. Imagine this:

You just bought bf2 for the first time, and are a lowly private. As you progress, you make your way through all the ranks, and start getting into the officer ranks. Wow how cool!

its just my opinions, but it's always a cool thing when the drum play and you get something...whether it be a rank or award. Seeing how the last patch that messed with the ranks I was just over 20,000 points and made it to master sgt (I had the bug with the vet pistol so didnt get 1st sgt), and since then, I just recently made the 30,000 points to sgt major. In that time, I have to say it was rather boring. No, I don't play just for medals and awards and ranks...but I'm just saying that every once in a while...it's nice to hear those drums rolls and you get something new. Even though the officer ranks are going to be only maybe 10,000 points apart...thats 10,000 points. For those of us that do not devote 15 hrs a day to the game...that's a lot of points. So I don't feel bad for those people that have hundreds of thousands of points...so they will be generals, good for them....I still have something to work on, and now it's not going to take me months to move up a rank.

So I think the ranks are a good addition, even though the top elite just get the highest ranks...oh well, I have been playing to enjoy the game and not just get lots of points, and now i can look forward to some new ranks to progress through.

After this new patch Its going to be one of those amusing moments where everyone on the server your on ranks up after getting a single point......aaaah good memories... So long as they give us 200,000+ players (also known as whores) something to go for ill be happy!
