    Re: Equality!

But of course- without inequality; then we wouldn't know better, wouldn't we?

It is inequality that has allowed the appreciation we have of our own talents, skills, benefits; etc. In any case- there is balance in superior tactics and not just skill; superior tactics and teamwork - is off-set by the amount of cooperation and effort needed to put into action - THAT is balance; that means people devoting their kits to the cause and achieving objectives. Inequality in itself allows balance to flourish.

We don't need a massive mundane game of rock paper scissors to demonstrate balance. It is the teams within themselves that must have the right and superior balance that allows them to win the battle.

"If you can balance a tack hammer on your head, you will head off your foes with a balanced attack. "

I run High/Med Settings and I set my draw distance to 90%. It doesn't hinder me in any form or fashion.

The weapons won't perform at 100% draw distance anyways, and you won't spot a jet at that distance also. So, it's pretty much worthless to have that extra 10%.

...plus, my frames went from 30-40, to 50-60. Pretty good for a:

      Athlon Xp+2000@2gz., 1gig Geil Value Ram, 9600xt, 1x Seagate 80gig 7200rpm.

I keep finding ways for this setup to play great games at medium settings at least (Of course only at 1024x768 4xAA.) ...and get very playable framerates (50-60 on most games).

...though, ATI's x1900xt is making me second think my situation. Probably will be shelling out a quick 2 grand on a new setup pretty soon, 2.5 if you include the second card right away for crossfire.

Not true at all. Less detail, lower res = easier to see targets. All a graphics card does is make it prettier.

it takes me little over a min, ive played on a 50 second start time server and still didnt spawn with everyone else, and my computer isnt ****, but its not kick ass either.

            Re: Equality!

First of all I would like to apologise for the "having a better graphics card gives you a massive advantage" comment! There is obviously no contest with FPS issues and graphics quality, but as regards the draw distance please take a look at the following screenshots.

The first pic shows a view looking directly at the carrier from the Dalian Plant coastline, as you can see very little difference, but the next picture which is a view with the carrier at the edge of view has increased the draw distance drastically!
This may explain how sometimes someone can see me before I see them!

                1) Everyone start the game at the same time, or within a few seconds of each other.
                2) Impossible to TK.
                3) Some sort of queueing system for vehicles.
                4) A ceiling on FPS, detail and view distances.
                5) Make it TRUE "Rock, Paper, Scissors" gameplay.

I am aware that points No1 and No2 are server settings, but that doesn't alleviate a) the initial connection to server times and b) C4 jumping.

I know it's wishful thinking, and I'm probably gonna get flame-grilled, but these would be top of my wish-list for a future patch.

Sometimes peace can only be bought about by war!

Ugh!!!!!! That's all we need is the ACLU getting involved in BF2.... Reminds me of an episode of King of the Hill where Bobby quits football to play soccer. They didn't keep score and no team ever lost.. I hate political correctness...

In regards to "Rock, paper, Scissors" gameplay, I was refering primarily to the major flaw in AA (roll on the next patch).
On servers with FF off there are people using C4 to jump onto impossibly high roofs.
Dude, I don't even know where to begin on this one.... Should we raise taxes so the people on welfare can afford to play BF2? No one is entitled to play BF2 or anything else... I'm not rich by any means but I don't go around complaining about what someone has or can afford... Save your money and buy a better video card.

                  Re: Equality!

Thanks for all of your comments (positive or negative), but I suppose it all boils down to EA/DICE in the end!
I can only hope that X months down the line, after numerous patches, that BF2 has been greatly improved for the majority!
