    Re: M95 lethality, and nuts.

The M95 is stupidly underpowered in BF2....

    1) In BF2 the recoil of the M95 is tiny....while in RL it is absolutly HUGE and looks stupidly cool.

2)Have you ever seen the size of the rounds that thing fires? They are massive.

    3) Why did they make it so a plastic gun which shoots small rounds, basically be used as a sniper rifle? its stupid!! Fine the SA80 is distubingly accurate in RL but it fires 5.56 rounds. The army changed to this ammo so 'IT DIDNT KILL THE ENEMY' it tied them up, so when one of the enemies friends would get shot, someone else would have to go back for him and get shot himself. In all, 5.56mm ammuniton is used for disabling enemies and slowing them down not for killing them. Now a gun which can shoot from halfway down karkand and still kill when it hits them in the leg is STUPID! because in RL they would say ouch and limp off...and M95 would remove his leg altogether. I just hate how they have made such a sad excuse for a gun (SA80) a snipers rapid fire equvialent.

The L85 is actually less accurate than the M16, G36E, and every one of the carbines. And rapid fire with L85 = instant phail

really, in most cases artillrey and even exploding weapons like grenade launchers only critically wound guys 90 percent of the time.

and finally, talk not of realism in bf2. it says that an unarmored target can take 4 M16 rounds to the chest, and keep running and firing while this is happening.

if you COULD take 4 m16 rounds to the chest and run through it all, you could probably take a 50 cal as well.

Please inform me how any other gun takes more skill to use than the sniper rifle. I can tell your getting pretty owned by snipers. Trying to get a headshot on a guy that's sprinting while putting your crosshairs in front of him so exctly at 1 or 2 secs later he will run through it and at the same time trying to figure out the bullet drop definantly doesn't take any skill what so ever.

i must say i agree with u there, sniping still tagets is relitivly easy but a moving target is a differnt ball game.

i love te m95,yes in rl it uber powerfull but this is a game and when it comes to firing the m95 has the stongest bullit that can be fired by a player in the game(hand held, tanks, monted guns not included)so for that reason i use all the time and only switch to pistol to finish um of at close range.

all in all to be good with the m95 u need to spend alot of time mastering it,
im no expert but this is the only gun i chose to play with and it feels dam good to land a head shot on a moving target<-- i just imagine myself as that player for a few sec's before i find a few targets.

cant be botherd with spraying round after round of carbine when all that is needed is a steady hand a keen eye and one shot from my m95 and its all over for that player.note that this takes alot of practice.

hehe whats worse than a m95 sniping you?
          2 m95 sniping you(kiss ur a$$ good bye muahhhhaaaaa

makes me wonder why ppl say snipers have no skill,
is i beacuse we dont hog tanks heli planes and dont get uber scorer every round.

alot of ppl dont even realise i just saved there a$$ (get the odd ta m8)
when you here sniper shots from youre team you can bet youre life he spoted the enemy before you,or even better can see infantary sneaking up on you and kill them with out you noticing.

SNIPER'S can be youre saviour, remeber that.

i got carryed away tw1g i just had to say what i tought about the matter, and wasnt flaming you.
i was only gona say i agree then the rest kinda followed :)

In RL the army had to make the Marksmen test harder due to them swapping rifles to the SA80/L85. If they hadnt it would have been 'To easy'.

In real life, yes, but the SA80 in BF2, to be blunt, sucks.

That comment usually stems from the fact that snipers are usually very far away from the enemy they're shooting at, meaning the sniper is relatively safe from retribution, especially when half the weapons in BF2 can't reliably hit past 75 or so meters. If you can't take the heat, you can be a sniper and hide somewhere "safe" (newbies usually end up getting killed anyway). Besides, you can be a crap shot and still get some easy kills with the sniper kit. Like you said, hitting static targets is relatively easy.

The other half of the hate towards snipers comes from their reputation for teamwork. They often just sit in one place sniping with no intention to capture flags. Snipers are good for supporting troops, but when you have three snipers on a front and no other infantry (happens from time to time), they're just dead weight.

Granted that would be a neat effect, but I doubt it would ever be implemented. For one it takes Server CPU to do it, and the ragdolls are pretty crappy in BF2 anyway so I get th feeling the dev team really doesn't want to spend time on them.

it depends on the map in qustion,
cant say what all snipers do,but i will give a breif descripton of my typical role.

                    1.join a squad
2.aid my team when there attempting to capture a flag.i usaly sit myself 200 yards with a clear view spotting and sniping targets.making easy work of infantary for my fellow team m8's then i make my way over and assist in the capture.
3.they move on i stay and defend that point best i can, untill i die.
then i reswap back on my squad and go though the whole prosses again.
4.only when my team is pined down(usualy last few flags do i take up a good postion but im constantly looking /hearing out for enemy snipers and saving as many team mates as i can.
5.thats team work,if you disagree then please explain how a sniper should play as a team player,as i think this is a good alround tatic for a sniper.

i dont base rape i dont team kill(unless some unfortunate sole walk over my obvious claymore.

never been baned or kicked,i play the game fair.
snipers are a valuble asset to the game.
you have probaly been saved more times than you no from a sniper.
when a team m8 says "enemy sniper spoted" if im in the area i make it my objective to hunt and kill, thus helping my team to keep up the momentum.

i have played say 80% of my bf2 game with the m95 and use it for shooting infantary heli, jeeps.

note that some ppl play sniper class and just hog a tank or a plane but thats not my style.i only get in tank or apc if its the only option i have.
id rather be defending flags and covering my team m8s.

i no i said in my other post hiting a player standing still is easy.well its easy for any class to kill, the point was try hiting a head shot at 300 on a moving target and maintain you 60% acuracy.
i like to think that there is some skill involved in that.

i agree with the comment 3 snipers together is a waste,i try and get in a squad with 0 or 1 at tops.

...the M95, M82, and all .50 caliber rifles aren't as punishing to shoot as some would have you belveie. The rifles have a "Massive" muzzle break, great recoil-dampening attributes (which attribute to the innaccuracy of the weapon; too many moving parts. Anti-Kiss so to speak)

When fired from a supported position, the M95/M82 has recoil comparable to a 30-06.

I think this is a common misconception going around simply because people see the size of the weapon, the damage it inflicts, and assumes it punishes the shooter. The .300Win Mag. and .338 Laupa are far more punishing to shoot.

                        Re: M95 lethality, and nuts.

I'd love to see the "nutshot" deliver a special message ie:

                        =DoG=Tango7 (newters M95) guyinalotofpain

                        or

                        =DoG=Tango7 (castrates M95) guyinalotofpain

As for the usefulness of a sniper, I take great satisfaction of sitting in a nice position overlooking a flag that my squad mates is setting off to take and taking shots at any enemy that pops his head up. I actually prefer to get a single M95 round into them, taking them to two bars of health, so that they don't respawn but can't put up much of a fight when my comrades move in for the flag. I get a few "kill assists" and the team gets an easy flag. Anyone who says a tactic like that is not useful for your team needs to have a good long look at themselves and if you call it spawn camping, so be it. I help my team and am satisfied with that fact.

See, when the sniper is used in a supporting role like that instead of "I don't feel like dying so I'm going to camp on the highest/most distant location and hope they don't kill me" fashion, I don't mind. That's the supporting role the sniper would ideally play in BF2, not on the very front of the line, but still suppressing infantry to help his squad advance.

See, and this is how I'm know you have lost your mind.

I have been on a rifle range with a .50 Caliber rifle. I was not the one behind the weapon, but, judging from what I saw and what I was TOLD first hand by the shooter. The weapon is not that bad to shoot. It has very large muzzle break, if anything the spotter would suffer 100% more than the shooter's shoulder ever would. (Of course there isn't a spotter on the range, but the displacement of ANY rifle in that claliber is amazing).

The weapon does not have Huge recoil. It has the potential for "Huge" recoil. Which is nullified by the muzzle break.

...like I said before, even the .338 is more punishing to shoot than the .50cal. According to the shooter it's more comparable to shooting a rifle chambered to 30-06 without a muzzle break.

This is a bit offtopic, but counter-strike has groin shots. Not only do they deal a great amount of damage, but they also cause the victim to give out a distinct yell/sound effect. I know it's not quite the macabre SOF style death animations you are looking for, but it's a nice touch. Try it sometime with a friend or paused bots.
