this seems to be a touchy subject. I played soccer for 5 years in grade school and i have to say its a lot more fun to play than watch but i just enjoy playing football americano and watching it. It seems to be alot more action and I watch the super Bowl for the commercials more than the game. Some of them are just down right hilarious. I like soccer and i like football but my vote on this is bf2 since i dont follow soccer on TV at all. Go lions. Only because im from Detroit. We have a very sad team. Sad....

American Football requires strategy. You can't just kick the ball around. You have to line up, send people in motion, try and trick the opposing defense, get them off balance. It's the nuances, the little things, that make American Football great.

LMFAO actually ROFLMFAO you honestly know knothing about Real football everything in the quote above is covered by Real football . Although in Real football you dont stop every 30 seconds to figure out what your doing you have to think on your feet and theres alot more skill involved.

It depends on what match you are talking about. if it is a strong and exiting one then: world cup! no argument.... if it is a team-which-i-dont-care-about vs. another-whocares-team! then probably bf2! but in genral i will vote: world cup!

I watched half of the superbowl on sunday i didn't see one guy sweating. Unless you count the fat people in the crowd. Where's the effort. I'm not keen on any game on having time outs as it just means that they can show more adverts. The only person who got mildly moist was the winning teams coach, and thats because he got drenched with the water buckets.

I could go on but its not going to stop you from enjoying your game so i'll leave it at that.

World cup for me all the way. Have been watching them for more years than i care to admit to. Korea/Japan four years ago was great. I never thought i'd see myself down the pub at 7am having a pint of guinness with a good old full english breakfast before heading into work after the game finished. Only BF2 i'll be playing will be after the games have finished for the day

What he said. I HAVE watched soccer, I've tried to like it...but it's terribly boring. Not enough scoring, not enough action. It's just a bunch of guys kicking a ball around to me...

It's the nuances, the little things, that make American Football great. Also, to compare Rugby and American Football is dumb. Yah, sure Rugby guys play with no pads *yawn* big deal. I have seen plenty of rugby, and never once did I see a 235lb, solid rock of a man LAUNCH HIMSELF at a guy and completely level him. You see that every day in football when a cornerback or a safety levels a wide-out. If you didn't wear pads in American Football you would be killed, plain and simple. Ever seen a linebacker hit a guy so hard he knocks him clean out? Saw it twice during the playoffs. Impacts so loud you could hear the "crack"....and that's with pads on.

The "stop and start" of the game is the thinking part of the game. That's why American Football is great. It's not just raw strength, or how fast you can run, or how far you can kick the ball...it's about how well you recognize coverage, how well you game-plan and scheme. It's just as much thought as it is pure athletisism.

Anyways, I think the World Cup is cool, and I respect that people dig soccer...but don't hate on American Football when you obviously know little to nothing about it. (Not YOU as in the quoted poster, just 'you' in general).

Very nice post, you at least get a kudos to me. Some of you yanks know what's going on.

Sorry to quote it all but it was all pretty good. I'm not even a huge sports spectator but I tune in to this special stuff.

European people are going to say "Real" football is better than "American" football and American people are going to say "American" football is better than "Real" football. It's a never ending argument and it's getting incredibly old. I've played "Real" football in my gym class, and it's not that bad, I've also played "Real" football and to me it's incredibly fun. On the other hand, the only way I'd watch a "Real" football game is if someone payed me, I personally cant stand watching "Real" football and hockey, but I absolutely love watching "American" football. I don't know much about "Real" football, so therefore I'm not going to say anything bad about it. Weird, huh?

I was forced to watch the Brazil VS Germany match. It really bored the hell out of me. NFL is a lot better than Soccer, BTW, I am from India, so spare the flames. In soccer, all you do is kick the ball around till it goes near the goal and let the Goalie kick it to the other goalie, at the other end . Rinse and repeat. I still don't get why people fight over this bore fest.

a few points -

1) American football is the only game in the world where both teams sit by the sidelines for 5 mins every once in a while so the broadcaster can show an advert break, instead of actually playing.

2) The superbowl was rigged. Lets see you try to do that to the FA cup final without a horrible riot breaking out - thats the true magic of normal football. Accountability through violence :p

4) Ice hockey is better than NFL. Specifically, Vancouver Canucks.

5) I have to watch the world cup, I am forced to. I work for a betting company and as such will be working for all the games, so no BF2 for me.
