"I PWN newbs!" (Not noob)

This is a topic we, tactical gamers have been discussing and I want to ask you guys this:

If you always love to say "I PWN Newbs" then I will tell you that it is not only the most cliched thing in gaming at the moment (in my opinion) but it also (in my opinion) shows a further degree of stupidity. Where's the bragging rights in beating someone who is so new to the game he doesn't know how to play properly. Iis that the best you can do? Not "I took down the 5th rated player in the world" or "I took out a dedicated squad single handedly", but really "I'm so useless tha my life goal on daily basis consists of killing someone who was in the config screen looking up what his duck button was".

It's like bragging that you shoot dogs, and not fast agressive dogs like rotweillers, but dumb dogs barely capable of movement like a St. Bernard. Scrub. It's like bragging that you can shoot a sloth from 3 meters with a shotgun

I'd say most people say it jokingly........ a bit of irony, I have said it in the past just taking the wee (why has it censored **** ffs! :p :cry:). I dont boast about killing 2nd lieutenants, whole squads or noobs. But i guess there are some tards who use that phrase seriously.

I also shoot newb guys, but I also shoot non newb guys, old guys, veteran guys, top ranked guys, ..... , I actualy just shoot on everything that moves with a red thing above it (offcourse, it does not always work out like planned and I end up dead) .

Shooting new players is legit but there is no real reason to brag about it. This thread is directly disscussing about the statement " I PWN NEWBS".

Ah, you're missing an integral part of the game: trashtalking.

Really, that's the other half of the game. Guess it has always been true of FPS.

Bragging? I don't brag in games unless I want to get a certain player all worked up and angry.

I find this tip very useful, I also think it is a good idea to shoot back at someone that is shooting at you too.

Trashtalking belongs in FPS's like Quake or UT. Makes sense there. When I get it in BF2 it just seems wrong.

Think the point hes trying to make is one that i often use on people who beat me and start the "youre such a noob routine" (though its often lost on them).

The point is why say "i beat you you noob" when you could say "you're an amazing player...but i beat you"

i think the point here is not that we should not "PWN newbs", easy points are easy points after all. but just that it aint much to be proud of.

There was a group about six years ago that had Counterstrike servers just for new players, they would kick you automatically if you did very well in a round or got too many kills to be considered new. I would join it regularly and run around knifing them.

I did it for sheer entertainment value rather than to just be abusive, nowadays I would think its more of an e-penis thing.

I'll never forget the day i was kicked from a server on CS:S for making the teams unbalanced cos i was too good. The thing being i'm not that good so they must have been toss. At the time i think i recall, i didn't call them noobs or newbs,......no it was definatley ar$eh0les.

I take no pleasure from bragging. I disrespect braggers more than anyone on the game, any game. If you take pleaseure from humiliating your opponent, then you deserve no respect from anyone. This game is about fun, having fun is great, humiliating your opponent publically isnt. This is very often among pilots. I just loved to get up and shoot them down for just the "OWNED U NOOB" they send out. Then again, all the best pilots I´ve played with who have downed me and whom I downed have allways been either quiet or cool. Commenting the good kills with a good word, which always makes the game even more fun than it is for both sides.
