i think CS only started making the names up after it went "commercialized" might be wrong though. Are they calling it the AWP in battlefield? only reason i can see for it being implemented is people who play cs will come along and go "zOMG AWP how KEWL!!1one" and the name AWP is somewhat legendary already.

It wasn't directed at anyone in particular just the idea presented.

Think before YOU flame. Futheremore. Google doesn't give any type of accurate representation of an M95 short of specifications. Truth be told, your not shooting a .50 caliber rifle Standing with any reasonable accuracy.

Simply put, you're not shooting it unless you're supported. So, if you want your, "One shot One Kill" you should understand it's going to come with the introduction of the M95 not being able to fire unless it's supported.

So, standing, crouching, that would be left up to the pistol and only the pistol. You probably wouldn't like that too much considering the M95 still doesn't shoot as tight as groups as the M24, only farther.

The M95 is a 2moa rifle, not a Sub-Moa. It can miss at extended ranges. When you scale those ranges down in terms of this game, the M95 is capable of missing past 200m.

...oh yeah. You should gather a bit of reading comprehension before YOU flame.

Snipers need to have an atomic claymore that wipes out half the map.

Hmm, those names must have come after I left CS...I should have considered that. I played waaaaay back in the begining.

I'm not sure about v1.6 (original Counter-Strike), but Counter-Strike: Source uses made-up names, I presume in order to avoid legal obligations (licensing, etc.).

Who in the heck fires a sniper rifle standing up? Maybe somebody who doesn't know anything about weapons. As for the M95, snipers have taken out targets up to 1500 meters or 1650 yards or 16 1/2 football fields. I would say DICE nerfed the M95 big time. The rifle doesn't live up to its name in BF2.

once again I bring up my reasoning that they should have choosen a different sniper rifle to unlock. Yes its a 50 cal, but it is also a video game. It would have been nice if they chose a different rifle so this whole debate over "but its a 50 and it should be one shot kill" would never happen.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't want it as a 1 shot kill. It's bad enough that you get artilleried, bombed, blown up by a tank, killed by a guy with a weak little gun from half way across the map, run over, etc...and then to add it so some random guy that hasn't taken the time to learn to fire sniper rifles to get those one shot kills and give them a gun where you should shoot them anywhere and kill them...really that wouldn't be fun at all. I'm sorry the 50 doesn't live up to its real life counterpart, but alas, this is a video game, and its not real life.

I'm ****ed at DICE too, but not for the same reason. I'm ****ed at them for nerfing the M16. I mean, six shots for a kill?!? C'mon, DICE, just c'mon now.

Yeah your right about calling it a different weapon maybe calling it a .22 long rifle, good for shooting rabbits. I think they should just make everything realistic.

Have you considered the Project Reality mod?

I have played CS from 1.5 , and there was an AWP there , it's the classic of CS .

The AWP is a real rifle though. It's chambered to a .308 with a 24" barrel.

...yet, you're right. The .338 is the Accuracy International Artic Warfare Magnum.

Ok... first.... i started playing cs in beta 7... and played thru 1.6.... however this is not cs, and the noob cannon should keep it's place.... in counter strike (hacker-strike). Now... doubtful that anyone who has posted in this thread has ever fired a Barret M95, or it's military counter part the M107 .50cal sniper rifle. I however have, with a .50cal round, if i pass the round with in 3 inches of your body the vortex from the round would tear the skin from that body part, in addition, has anyone in hear seen the impact of a M95, or M107, ... if you hit a human target with it, body armor or not, at 1000 meters you are turned into red "paint". At 1400 to 1600 meters if you are hit in the chest, most of that side of your chest is torn from the body and is deposited around 30 or soo feet away. from 2000 meters.. it still turns body armor to warm butter and kills the meat bag incased in the body armor. Next... fire a .50cal rifle standing and unsupported... you will more then likely end up on the ground holding your dislocated shoulder, and further more your target will be long gone behind a veil of body guards. The sniper rifle in game should be more like its true life derivative, you MUST fire it supported in the prone position, or ON a supportive window sill, wall.. etc... and btw... if anyone from EA/Dice is reading this... 38 rotations for the 40mm projectile grenade to arm.... not sooner... claymore's are on tripwires or detonated by a remote, 25lbs satchel of c4 can NOT be thrown like a Frisbee, 18lbs AT mines also can't be thrown like a discus... /rant i could go on for days....
