        Re: pre patch jitters

I've already started playing and planning for the changes in the helicopter.

I've accustomed myself to chaging my flight patterns, evasive maneuvers, stealth. I don't think I will be worried about it too much.

If you need more than 8 rockets to destroy anything, you need to re-evaluate how you use the chopper. I rarely use the main rockets, I let my gunner do all the dirty work, as it should be.

If I can get us out alive while racking kills for the gunner, I've done my job.

As for everything else, meh, I'll adapt. I think the only things that needed to be changed since the beginning it making the SAM/IGLA sites better, make the AA missiles do their job. Oh well.

        PEACE

I have talked to people, it sounds like if you get lock on.. You're screwed.

I wish that the AA took some sort of skill though, so that some private n00b isn't taking down someone with 100k points and 300hrs in the chopper. You had to aim DC's stingers, and some people got pretty good at it. It was rewarding to take down a helicopter with those, because they actually took skill, and not any old kid could do it. Bring back DC stingers.

A bit early to start with the patch whining, don't you think?

hope they fix the air to air missiles that dont lock at all. you get in a great position behind a jet and id rather use guns. missiles are so bad.

you cant kill even average pilots even when your all over them like a rash.

What exactly did they do to bunnying anyway?

Realism is not very high on DICE's list
Saying BF2 is realistic is like saying Die Hard is realistic because the guns in it are real.

                    Re: pre patch jitters

I think Im wierd. I actually kind of like the idea of changing game play and dynamic every little while (even if forced). Its almost refreshing. Just as Ive basically mastered and am getting bored with the old system a new system comes out and Im back to trying to break it down and figure it out. That, to me, is half the fun of gaming.

This new GL is going to be great (so long as they dont dumb down the radius to much) because its going to be a huge change in dynamic and at the same time it wont be. In alleways shooting long ways (usualy how its being shot anyway) will still be a long enough shot so that it will be armed. But those people who try to hide will now just be in the perfect possition for a ricochet shot. I can see this really coming in handy since it will be the only weapon that will have an instant ricochet damage. Grenades have a long delay time so are easy to run from. GL will blow up right after the first wall bounce.

Besides, Im almost willing to bet money that people complaining about "noob tubers" are going to be really ****ed once people figure out that they probably only have to shoot a wall first before it explodes. This way if I really wanted to noob out (lol at the term), I just need to aim at the wall toward the ground. It will bounce off the wall and land BEHIND the victom at their feet, its even worse that way cause then your hitbox sheilds mine (if thats how the game is coded).

Im going to love the improved sniper accuracy as I play that quite a bit. Ive gotten pritty good with the current set up so it will take some relearning but as I said before thatll be all the fun. I hope the new weapons they introduce are worthy as well. The new movement will be very interesting to learn find the properties of >=D

I don't really want this patch to come out either. The only good things that will come out of it are the two new unlocks, the elimination of bunny hopping, and the nerffing of the noob tube.

Frankly, I'm disgusted that they are nerffing the helis. They're lessening the amount of missiles an attack heli can hold by almost 50%, and just because the manager wanted to. I guess that's what p1sses me off the most.

Only thing I don't like is the chopper change, the choppers get only 8 misiles now and the AA is going to be a lot better against choppers , you I think the chopper fun will be ruined
I feel exactly the same way in terms of ground play, but have a slightly differnent take on choppers.

I'm a chopper fan. When I heard about the nerfing of the choppers (you forgot to mention that the M134, better know as the BH mini-guns, are also going to be nerfed) combined with the improved AA missiles, I felt like a good thing was gonna die.

Then I thought about it some more. What does it really mean?
It means that their roles will be underlined and that their use will require more skill. In order to avoid missile fire, you're going to have to fly hella low or very high. It means when your flying an attack chopper, you'll need to have a good gunner, 'cause rockets just ain't gonna be something you can count on. It means that BH pilots will have to work harder to get their gunners lined up while avoiding groundfire better.

It means the undedicated will step away from those whirly birds and hand 'em over to those who know how ta use 'em.

It means there's gonna be a challange!
                        I'm up fer it!

I'm worried about the no shooting while jumping idea. This will either make for better ground combat action. Or will do the total opposite, I fear it will be the luck of the draw as to who wins the gunfight since, the two combatants, are only moving in two dimensions as opposed to three.

I think it's horrible that they are taking out the prone spamming, how else am I supposed to evade the spawn camping APCs. I wouldn't be too disapointed if they made the 'stand to prone' animation like in DC (If you are running straight and push Z you do a dive automatically).

I hate how they are reducing the damage of the mini guns, that won't change anything! It's the splash damage they have to adjust - it doesn't make sense that I get killed by them when I am behind a thick concrete wall!

They reduced the damage of them in the 1.03 patch and it didn't do anything, unless they adjust the splash damage the mini guns will be just as powerfull in the 1.2 patch.

Whatever they fix, I bet someone a few hours or days later will fine so kind of new exploit or some kind of bug.
