    pre patch jitters

after hearing all the stories of the changes that are going to happen when the patch is released (if ever ) i suddenly don't want it to come (again if ever) i wanna keep the same old rules and conditions. I mean how are you supposed to adapt to a game when the core aspects are modified every couple of months. Its like a biased experiment. I fear that the game just wouldn't feel the same. It was all good at the beginning when the first patch was released with no boosts, just fixed bugs. Then came special forces and took all the leftover balance in the game and flushed it down the drain with the unlocks that you did not need to earn any linger:just buy the expansion (EA's going corrupt).
    Anyone else feel that way?
But then again ill probably just turn out a n00b (quote Seinfeld:"Not that there's anything wrong with that )that doesn't understand the game and this thread will become a discussion about which unlock is better or something of the sort.
Again i'm not ruling out me being wrong.

No, I am looking out to the patch, actualy the patch isn't going to change the game in a drastic way for the people who played the game normaly , it will only change the game for people who where NOOB TUBE WHORING and BUNNY HOPPING .

Only thing I don't like is the chopper change, the choppers get only 8 misiles now and the AA is going to be a lot better against choppers , you I think the chopper fun will be ruined

k i agree about the choppers it will suck now cause the big bad EA took the candy (chopper whoring) away from the kid (gamer).

Im glad patch is coming. Finaly no stupid bunny hoppers and such. And sniping has been improved. I wish they would improve zoom instead of accuracy though...

well ok i see that noone will share my views so you might just have ti give up on this thread and go see if you have met bitvomit on the battlefield.
Anyways i will just quote the update changes that i don't very much like *NOW I"M NOT SAYING THAT I WOULD LOWER MYSELF TO DOING SOME OF THESE,BUT I DON'T MIND IT BEING IN THE GAME*
          # "Dolphin Diving" is no longer possible
          # Players can no longer jump and shoot at the same time
          # "Prone Spamming" is now fixed
          # "Sprint exploit" is now fixed (WHATEVER THAT IS)
          # Helicopter now carry 8 missiles rather than 14
          # TV-Guided missile now have a shorter range
          # Hit points on all air vehicles has been
          THATS ALL

think about it as a new game with which to get your teeth into. Personally, I think the changes will be beneficial. People are quoting changes as seen in the alpha videos and original patch fix list. Clearly all things are subject to change until the patch is released and from being involved in beta patch testing before, alpha testing is really early.

Personally I have to say that I'm looking forward to the heli's being weaker, but that's just for the selfish reasons of a) can't fly one myself and b) hate getting killed by the Blackhawk on Mashtuur all the time! :)

                But thats just me...

                  Re: pre patch jitters

In RL a blackhawk takes some pretty serious damage from mere 50.cal rounds, but in bf2 its all arcade and crap atm so I avoid aircraft maps as much as possible.

As for the TV-missle range reduction... thats speculatory for many of us.. the cobra uses TOW right? well.. tow = tube launched optically tracked ****WIRE*** guided missle. How long is that wire, really? given it'd have to be thick enough to withstand the heat and sheer forces exerted, as well as be able to carry data to the missle (and back).

And also.. 8 missles is more realistic i think, given that these things are capable of popping a tank in a mere 4.

No jump-shooting.. i will miss that a little bit, its useful if you are assault and you gotta shoot over a fence. or with a shotgun, especially that (since it doesnt penetrate anything) but otherwise its a welcome change, im sick of getting blown away by some tosser bouncing around with springs in his shoes, while I blast PKM at him.

And finally, a point you failed to mention: prone time increased, its gonna take longer for people to get in and out of prone (for similar reasons to the bunnyhopping, a dude with ak101 runs at me, i blast at his waist, .4 seconds later hes flat as a tack and has pelted me in the face a few times with some really sharp things) at least now they will actually get hit on the way down.

The cable for a TOW is micro thin, it doesnt need to be thick to send information down a cable. The TOW has a range of 3.75 km.

Also a 50.cal chews up any helicopter in RL. Only one aircraft has been designed to take heavy punishment from large calibre weapons and thats the A10 Warthog.

thank you for clearing that up for us. i can deduce from this evidence that dice made the range reduction for a manner of balance > realism.

Yeah I think your right. Realism is not very high on DICE's list, although it is far more realistic than many FPS shooters.

I think if they made it realistic then the game would be crap. jets and Arty would go in for 2 minutes at the start of each round and then ground pounders would mop up the dazed and wounded enemy.

Plus you can't program in the natural survival instincts that occur when you realise that 1 bullet could ruin everything.

Strange that ppl think like this.. G36E is the only SF unlock that i use regularily but otherwise i stick with the PKM, G3, DAO and so on

I do understand though that if you don't own SF you come to think about things like that. Every once in a while when you get killed by one of the SF unlocks you start to feel that the winner of that duel was decided already in the weapon selection in the spawn screen.

I don't want the patch. I agree, it seems that these patches are changing core game elements instead of fixing the bugs. Yeah its great that they throw in a map or weapons, but changing major things like jumping N shooting its just not on. Im not a jumper N shooter. But sometimes and only sometimes, I need to jump and shoot, maybe cos when Im doing it, I can put a few in some head thats beyond a wall. Or I wanna to a jumping dive over the sandbags and knife the unaware fool on the other side.
I don't think the patch will break the game (mind you, don't think Ive ever killed any tank with 4 missiles), but it will remove many of the fun elements.
