I was playing on Songhua Stalemate (R2 server IIRC) and I was at the fish factory, enemy blackhawk was tearing the base up, so I go back and hide in a bunker shooting AT missiles at it, one hits and the blackhawk starts pulling up, I get set to shoot another missile at it when just then a supply crate comes down and blows it up killing all 6 people on it. I almost fell off my chair laughing so hard.

Yeah, done that a few times… Definitely puts a smile on your face… That and killing the other teams commander with artillery when he is off in some remote location directing his team. Some people might look at it as a waste of an artillery strike, but if he is dead he can’t command and if he is smart he will run for cover once he respawns.

My favorite thing to do right now is sneaking over the enemy’s base and planning C4 on parked helos and planes and waiting for people to jump in them. I wait until they are almost out of sight before blowing them up… Really ****es them off too…

No need for insults, especially not cause you're wrong. Blowing up the Blackhawk on Mashtuur can be the deciding factor between a loss and a win for your team..

Hence why I used the qualifier usually in my previous post. 90% of the time (if not more), it is a wasted strike: if that's not a dumb thing to do, I guess everything goes. Then again, if this kind of commander tactic is standard fare, I shouldn't be surprised at the kind of response I've received for my post...

whether you consider it a bad tactic or not is your choice, but the majority of us here can agree its an amusing, and somewhat useful tactic.

Insulting? not in the least...i need a good flame war everyonce in awhile to keep my wits up. what to quarrel about next? dolphin diving? c4 whoring perhaps?

I think it's a great tactic though- for maps like Mashtuur City- since so many people have problems with 'BH pwnage' when playing as MEC (count the posts regarding Mashtuur on this forum :P).
It's legal anyway- nothing wrong with it, and a far cry from anything as 'bad' as spawn camping and whoring.

Definately not a 'noob commander' tactic- because a commander would have to do ANYTHING to have his side win (except for cheating and hacking). For the BH to be effective, at least 4 crew, if not all 6 (thats SIX able soldiers that could also serve on the ground). The BH is more considered as a war platform rather than a carrier because of it's minigun- wherever a BH goes- a lotta death and destruction follows. Destroying this vital asset and having those many crew have to WAIT for it to spawn again. It definately does something for the commander who is doing this.

I'd also like to know if anyone can ever recall hitting a plane in flight with arty.

I can recall being IN a plane that got hit with arty in flight.

That was a very :\ moment.

I was going to repair a flying cow on songhua, and was thinking "I wonder if the arty will kill me if it starts firing", as I was flying over it, then it starts firing, BOOM, the one to the left, BOOM the one to the right, BOOM the one I'm right under. KABOOM. Lol.

I also kill the blackhawk with arty on mashtuur If I'm commander, I belive I wait 12 seconds after the hawk is killed, click the arty, and it should land just as everyone is getting in.

My intention was not to initiate a flame war, but rather to prevent people from thinking that putting artillery on the helipads is a good tactic. After doing so, I was accused of trolling and/or flaming: now that I've addressed everything, I can leave the thread. Bye now...

Do observe how you address people though... you have been relatively offensive in your choice of tone. BUT ANYWAYS. Arty on BH good, some say bad- because they say it's a waste. But hey- it's like the arguement on the people who use their AT missiles on infantry. They don't have a choice most times than not. I know that- as a commander, you also have no choice but to do a few 'wasteful' things in order to bring your front back up to scratch.
