Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
only time i got stuttering in game was due to sound card. screwed around with it for awile but became a moot point when I updated to an Audigy card and set it to hardware.
just read through the thread. I feel for you I really do. Have had exact same problem and all is cured now. Relax........
Completely uninstalling and then a perfect reinstall WILL work. make sure u do it properly. the described method worked for me. so long as your problem is related to the notorious punkbuster update that screwed everyone.
people ripped thier rigs to bits in order to cure. u dont need to.
all i did was uninstall in the designed way via add remove
checked reg for EA folders.
my reinstall is slightly trickier as i've got the EA downloaded version of SF.
next i simple installed bf (make sure u do mic test)
then installed via my back up copy of the ea downloader folder for SF
next was the 1.2 patch
ran the new update version of pb, (important to get new update)
This sounds very much like the problem I'm having, it only affects online play although my intro video (the EA logo and DICE logo) isn't running right either. Is a complete reinstall the only solution anyone has found?
I pretty much nailed it down to my sound, which is some built-in nvdia card of some sort. So I threw in some random turtle bay card I had layin around and it fixed EVERYTHING.
No more stuttering, no more gradual slowdown the longer I play, and no more gawd damn freezeups.
I wanted to let you know that I have been having this issue since I first got BF2. Sometimes I have no problems, other times I can barely play. Most recently I received a Blue Screen. The game gets soo choppy that I only get 1 frame every second or 2, sometimes slower. Also sound gets all messed up. I have an Audigy 2 Gamer. Everything is updated. I tried re-installing and this did not help. I submitted a question to EA, so hopefully I will get some help.
I do not have a pbweb file where should it be? However I have tried updateing Punk Buster manually and it did not seem to help in the past, I will try it again.
C:\program files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\pb
Here is my problem:
I am STILL having problems with Battlefield 2 running crappy. I tried re-installing and that worked ok for a few rounds. However, it is doing the same thing as always. I used to own a ATI 9800 PRO and I upgraded to NVidia and this helped for many months, howevever without changeing anything the performance problem is back. The game will run great, then after about an hour it will start slowing and within 10 minutes the game slows down to 1 frame per second or worse! The video becomes all strange. I tried turning of the 2nd monitor (through software) and this did not help. I tried upgradeing my video card drives, and this did not help. Switching to my current config (Nvidia) from ATI did not help. I tried re-installing and that did not help. I have tried closeing everything, and that did not help. I have had these problems both on 1.2 and the previous version as well. In fact, I think I have had these problems on all versions! I have SATA raid, and that is the only thing that I can think of that could be causing these problems? I have tried hardware and software sound, and hardware sound seemed to be worse. My other computer has the same problem basically, and it uses SATA as well. Please look into this further, since I think this is a serious problem and I know that many other uses probably have the same problem. Also, recently this performance problem has happened right when I entered the game, and gave me a blue screen of death:
I tried updating Punk Buster manually, and it helped a little, but after a while of playing it still does the exact same thing.
I want to check for driver updates on Microsoft Update, however my IE crashes the second it tries to go to the page. Any suggestions? I dont use IE much with Firefox, maybe that is why it broke. Maybe I can download the new IE when it comes out, or if I can find the beta that would help. I can try re-installing but that almost never works with MS products :) Do you know of any IE clenaers? Also, my media player is messed up in browsers so if you happen to know a media player cleaner that would be cool (I found a Firefox extension to get around this prob). My computer is almost time for a re-install, but I have so much stuff that that would be a pain, not to mention the possibility of makeing things worse :)
is it for 64 player maps. i always get this because my current computer has 512 ram. my new one has 2 gigs and some other good things and its gonna handle that

the pb update program (the windows one, not the dos), causes stuttering ?
i'm asking because i'm getting random stuttering sometimes and i think it happens more after the update.
