It most of the time has to do with the forward looking capability of the TV missile system (as in RL). Whenever you have a lock, it looks for a closer thread as well. When it finds one, it overrules the locked data. But what can happen is that the other target is destroyed by someone else, just before impact. Your rocket will then take the next block or circle target on your display even without lock. If it goes for friendlies, you can try to steer it away by pulling your cross hairs sharply upwards or sideways. I know, easily said as this all goes down in seconds, but it's the only way to avoid TK's.

Oh forgot. It's best to take aim flying towards the enemy lines instead of towards your own lines. If the missile misses the locked target, it often will take out another enemy target on your display as long as you don't touch the cross hairs or your pilot doesn't make a sharp turn.

The problem with the bombers is that the field of vision is far less for the bombardier then the pilot. It’s that by the time the bombardier sees a target the pilot either destroyed it with his cannon or flew pretty much past it.

The trick to use the missiles is that you’ll only hit what’s in front of you (centered) and will miss if you shoot at the sides. You could only deviate by a little to each side, but not too far from center. It’ll work at full speed as long as you keep it centered.

Another tip, you can guide it even if there isn’t a lock-on, fire it and aim using the center of the box. You’ll have to keep the box centered on the target till the rocket hits. I’ve managed to hit four helicopters (Three Blackhawks on the ground and one Cobra in the air).

And a little off topic, does anyone else get nausea as they fly around in the laser-guided mode while the pilot is banking or doing barrel rolls and such?

          Because I start feeling :dead:
