It's alot easier to do it the other way round, then you have to deal with timing, a huge problem I had with 'The Duel' was getting music that was good and then getting the timing right.

thanks. Oddly enough, I usually select the music and then put scenes to it. Ass backwards I know, but it seems to work.

Your not alone, sometimes I just write a scene with a soundtrack playing. (after playing around with it allot in my mind)
Make scene flow naturally with the one music track and you will yield better results imo (remember that the soundtrack was made for one scene only in a different context altogether, unless you pick something easy like a score from Black Hawk Down for example)
Then all that's left, is to capture the shots with more clip time than necessary and it will fit together when you edit it.
I only would edit the music track when I don't have enough footage to fill in or if a part is not suited for many various reasons, which is bad if you can't get back in sync afterwards. A little forward planning usually stops this from happening though.

The big news for this week is that I'm currently working a deal with BrandX music to make available their back catalog for a nominal fee for use in machinima projects, something which they have never heard of until now.

If you have never head of BrandX music, you can check them out on the web at: http://www.brandxmusic.net/brandx/index.cfm
You can sample all of their tunes but none are available for download.

Top notch stuff but very expensive at the moment. $2,000 a pop. Hopefully we can get them on board and make this happen as their back catalog just sits there.

I know about BrandX, I would love to use some of their music, I was going to propose the same deal as I thought it would be free If I just said that I was making a theatrical trailer, which I am. :)
I tried downloading some of the tunes then running them through a couple of filters to
buff them up, but the results aren’t that great.
I would ask LRRP where they got a full quality version of "Rise of the Avenger" - but they probably "found" it somewhere.

I think that was the desert combat mod for BF1942 or voices used from both.
