I don't think you guys are going to be helped by downloading Punkbuster files... Not until they fix what ever they did in their latest update.
It's ruining gameplay on Wn XP machines and totally crashing Win 2000 systems. Seems to be no work-around until PunkBuster fixes their work.

Punkbuster created the issue on their Friday Patch.

Punkbuster has released a new patch today (Saturday)...I'm assuming to fix this issue.

I just recieved an update from Punkbuster, from the support ticket as follows:
01/28/2006 20:36:50 - "Stuart Dunsmore"
Note #2: Grab the 1.127 update using PBSetup

and wait for servers to upgrade to the new client.


This worked for me, and I hope it works for everyone else.

Had issues the last two nights too. Although playable, BF2 was very choppy, and fps in high twenties/low thirties.
I just manually updated PB and will go check in an instance.
