    Battlefield Unplayable

Just up until yesterday I couldn't play, when I join a server It is extremely choppy and the graphics stutter and lag along with the sound, its unplayable. My video settings are 1024 x 768 60 Hz, High Texture, NO AA, AF (Forgot the name) is set to low, Geometry, Effects are High. Terrain is medium. Dynamic Light is off and Dynamic Shadows are set to low. My hardware is a AMD Athlon XP 3200+, Tyan Tachyon 9700Pro with Catalyst 6.1 Drivers. Audigy 2 ZS, Diamondmax 10 250GB Hard Drive. Everything was working fine until yesterday.
Although I did the Hz in the Control Center to 75 Hz but just changed it back a few minutes ago. I deleted the cache file, and let it optimize again.

Any help is appreciated and would like to start playin ASAP. If you need any more info let me know.

    Thanks,

You didn't mention how much memory you have and you should try setting textures to medium.

I have 1GB of DDR 400, at the stock timings. I've used high before and it ran fine.

Try disabling your antivirus, and by that I mean really disable it, not just shut down the control panel. Think the new PB has a conflict with AV.

DAMN... I am having the EXACT same problems. I have formated my HDD and re-installed windows twice, reflashed my BIOS with the up to date version, and NOW have the 2nd most up to date version.

tried setting the setting to low, still nothing. the game loads fine, connects to servers fine, then when you get to pick your kit and spawn point it stutters unbelievably! Have tried in single player and same problem...

PS, when did they update to the new version of PB?

                SPECS:
                P4 2.4 (OC'd to 3.2) <-- not a factor with this problem... trust me!
                1 gig DDR 400
                200 Gb SATA (2 partions - 1 windows; 1 BF2)
ATI 9600 pro (6.1 installed and fine)

I can't even pick my kit with the extreme system lag.

                    Hmm..updated punkbuster?

It could be on punkbuster's end..try playing on a non-pb server and see what happens.

I doubt its that but I'll try anyway. Its a problem on my machine not punkbuster or the server.

You may be right..but for this problem to have JUST started at the same time as PB was updated makes it a likely culprit.

                        Rule it out.

PB has caused MASSIVE issues for people in the past (complete lock ups for me one time).

                            same here... THANKS!

download this file and add BF2 in the games. and then 'check for update'

                            Jesse

EDIT:... Now, i updated my PB files, and restarted BF2 and all was GREAT. played for a bit, then quit and restarted... SAME PROBLEMS as before!
