there should be tutorials online or in the manual for the router and opening ports... find out who makes it go to thier site and get the manual for it...

if the correct ports arnt open then no it wont work... you wont damage the thing messing with the ports just rember what u did in case it doesnt work.

as your on comcast im assuming your in the uk ? me mate like i say was on BT and his broadband package had a router in with it.. i eventually persuaded him it was the router he went and got a std broadband modem off ebuyer and hassnt had any bother at all since.

as your singleplayer is fine i would point the finger at the router myself...coz the game would just not run or freeze the same i think if its a driver issue.

get a friend to lend you a std cable modem not one with a router and try it first too see if its that before you spend you money on a new one

mine in the UK cost £25 so thats about $45 or so issnt it ?

Hehe, I thought someone was wrong. I live in the US, and I don't know much about money over the seas.

Crap, I just realized I did that whole thing wrong. Ugh, I was up all night trying to fix BF2.

So all I need to do it buy a ~45 router and I should (probably) be able to play BF2? Will it increase my download speed? Which router did he buy?

I think I can get a free router from Comcast. It would be the same as the one I have now, but if it really was every Comcast router then many more people would be having this problem.

For the last paragraph I may be thinking about the modem.

Freezing up just after joining a server...

That happened to me while trying to fix the now infamous Win2K Punkbuster issue (happened on Friday Jan 27). What worked for me was to uninstall BF2 including the profiles and everything else - there are three checkboxes during uninstall (i believe it was something with the profiles), then reinstall and retrieve my profile. Bingo.

I'm running Win2K though, and until Punkbuster fixes their Friday update, none of us Windows 2000 people can actually play on a PB server. At least it's not freezing any more...

Soo...try a non-pb server.

PB updates have caused DRAMATIC problems in the past and make player's believe the problem is somewhere with their system.

If you play fine on a non-pb server, you'll know for sure.

King of Birds- I tried that several times already. It worked for a acouple days the first time I tried, but now it doesn't make any difference.

Talus- I believe I already tried that too, but it didn't make any difference. I'll try it again though just to make sure.

okay, half the people on this forum have nforce chipsets, rethink that comment lol.
the only program I know of that doesnt work right with nforce chipsets is nvidia firewall, which is hella ironic. lol.
