argh this is soo annoying, iv started my own bf2 server just so a few friends can connect and we can have abit of a laugh, but the problem is .. they cant connect, I dont know alot about pc's and all this crap but I have a firewall - Router, could this be blocking them out ?, i have no idea how to fix it or what to do so if anyone could give me any info please write asap before i comit suicide! lol

iv sorted the ports and stuff in my firewall but how do i sort out my router? .. ports e.t.c i have the new router and its strange and confusing , any ideas? -

my router is : Broadband Cable Router, - BRP-1400
i dont think that model is listed on that site, i cannot find it anywere
got any ideas people? i added the port range: 16567 - 16567 Protocol : UDP ... i dont know what else to try and i dont even know what that means "port range" lolComment

Ok, then put your BF2 server's LAN IP in the DMZ.
That should work.
Otherwise, just click on a random Dlink or Linksys router and then browse for Battlefield 2 and it'll show you how to set up ports for BF2. I'm sure you can browse through your router's config screen to make things match up.Comment

my bros pc ip ends in [2] - 192.168.1.2
mine ends in [3] - 192.168.1.3

It's easier than trying to explain things down to the level needed here.
Step by step instructions for forwarding are provided on that site...there is nothing more I could possibly add.
If that cannot be done...DMZ.
You can always take a PC out of the DMZ when the server isn't running...2 clicks.Comment

I understand. Its just that ever since i took my Security+ class and actually started logging infiiltration attemps to my network, it was obvious how dangerous a DMZ'd PC could be.
Granted most attacks to a random user is just gonna be harmless pings and stuff....but you never know i guess.Comment
