i can play FEAR on all medium @ 1024x768 with no soft shadows & 2x AF & average 40fps. My system specs compared to the guys who just bought it are far superior to mine, i suggest u turn n e thing running in the background off & also defrag ur HD make sure ur GFX & Sound drivers are upto date & disable EAX.

Audigy 2 ZS
Maxtor SATA 160g RAID 0
2 Gig corsair
Multisync lcd1970GX

it ran everything on high and i didnt notice any slowdown... incidentally one of the biggest jumps in FPS (for BF2) i got was after a good defrag with O&O not windows orrible built in defrag, quake 4 was flawless too.

Oh... you have the space.... just loose the 256 and put in 4x 512 or 4x 1gb :) (Granted these recomendations are costly)

one of the BEST and most intense shooters right now, but this dont mean the MOST LONG LASTING. the max u can play sp is two times, after that u will get bored. multiplayer is OK, but its total crap compared to bf2. btw, that game seem to hav way less bugs than bf2.

have you tried the demo ? it would be a good indicator of how quick u can run it and try the demo of Q4 too ... i would if i was you ebay your old mem and get a couple of kingston matched pairs and get up to 2 gig thats going to help alot.

The multi player is fun, but yes, nothing at all compared to bf2. But hey, the game was 30$. As for the bugs, there is only one bug on the new patch. Where if you play it once, you have to restart your computer before you can play again, or else you will blue screen when you DBL click the icon again. well, blue screen or freeze and have to restart. There is like a 10 minute thing you can do to fix it, but I would rather restarr ^_^ hopefully they fix it in the patch.. in the meantime, Ill play once and stick to bf2 the rest of the night.

Sorry, but that has NEVER happened to me. I can alwase get out of the game, turn on xfire, and re-launch the game.

all you have to do it turn the '' soft shadowing '' off. Because that's a killer on any PC.

I run the game maxed w/ that off and the reso at 800x600 w/ 2x anti aliasing.

The story is amazing, once you get far into it you can't stop!

Holy crap, 800x600!!?? I can't stand anything under 1024x768.....and that itself is still kinda annoying. I run any game I can at 1280x1024. Its amazingly better.

HAha, I remember having to run bf2 at 800x600 (shivers). I run all my games at 1024x768 not because of performance, but because I just like it. Maybe Ill try higher reso's and see how it looks.

have you tried re-installing the patch?

the first time i installed i couldn't even start up the game, re-installed the patch and everything is fine...
