    Enhancing Teamwork.....

After playing this game a while now I have come to realise that "most" people don't play as a team and for themselves, in other words "point whore".

But I've been thinking about a concept that EA/DICE might have over looked.

They wanted this game to be based on teamwork, that's why they added the Medics, Engies and Support troopers. And with these classes you earn teamwork points....

So why didn't they think "Hmmmm, we have six classes here. Why don't we give them all a chance to earn teamwork points?!?". I mean, they give us the chance to form squads, and the Commander gives them orders, but why not do summit like this....

Squad Alpha has 1 Assault (who is SL), 2 AT, 1 Medic, 1 Support and 1 Spec Ops. Squad Alpha is trying to capture a point that the Commander has given orders to attack.
While capturing this flag, someone with that squad spots armor. So they shout "Enemy Armor Spotted", as they do now but add "Need AT".

Now, the guy who's AT (in the squad or within x metres of the spotted target) has something on his screen saying "Armor spotted in your area. Page Up to accept to engauge or Page Down to decline", basically the same when you are invited into a squad or SL given an order fromt he Commander.

If the AT guy accepts, the SL shouts "AT up!", giving the AT guy an order to attack the Armor.

If the AT guy is successful in destorying the Armor, he receives 2 teamwork points + 1 Kill point = 5 points global. Due to this being successful, the entire squad receives a bonus teamwork point that objective complete.

This, in a sense, will open the game up for more teamwork, ie. AT is critically wounded, Medic revives, giving Medic an objective or AT runs out of ammo, Support resupplies AT etc etc.

The same will go for Infantry, APC and Boat but when it comes to Jets and Helicopters, the Squad Member will have to be in a AA Vehicle/Turret to accept.

A lil' far fetched, but your thoughts?!?

I think this was on the cards in some sense.

I think that, another idea to encourage teamwork, is to give a little bonus to people who sticks to their SL, like an accuracy bonus or stuff like that, so people would start to move in squad, and not join a squad and go in a plane...

Well, it needs to be simpler than that. Kinda like, if you kill an enemy who is at your flag, then you get a "defending flag" point. Teamowrk points should be allocated similarly somehow. Maybe when group of three or more squad members is together and close to each other, then every kill, you get a "teamwork" point.

Whatever it is, it just has to be simple.......

Awsome idea, and I agree with you 100%. Your right, this was designed to be a team/squad based game but yet you are not rewarded one single bit for playing and performing as a squad. Hmmm....makes perfect since to me!?! WTF Dice? Did this part of the game just totaly slip you mind? Now the commander gets and average of the total points his team makes X2 if they win so he has incentive to win but what incentive does anyone else playing have? Why should they listen to anything the commander says? Why would they care if their team wins or losses? They don't, there are no incentives in place that would make anyone want to be in a squad or want to make sure their side wins.

Your idea is a great way to fix this problem and would help turn the game into what it was supposed to be in the first place. From looking at those localization files it seems that they may have at least thought about doing this as some point but why haven't they? Another thing they could do to get people to start playing more as a team is to reward the left over ticks of the winning team as points to whoever is in a squad on the winning side. You would of course have to make sure that there was some sort of minimum time in squad detection built in so that someone couldn't just try to switch sides at the last minute and jump in a squad to rape the points. They would also have to fix the issue with people being switched to the other team while they are in a squad so that if people have to be switched to balance the teams that they choose the lone wolf players first and leave anyone in a squad alone.

These are some minor changes that would breath a whole new life in the game and would give you other ways of earning points since it is hard enough for and average person who doesn't have hours upon hours to devote to grinding out points to get the better unlocks and such. Whenever I'm on with my fellow clan mates, we always try to get on the same side and then form a squad and we all work together to try to capture cp's or defend cp's or whatever the commander needs us to do within reason of course, but we obviously don't get anything out of it as far as point rewards, the only thing we get is the satisfaction of knowing that we are able to accomplish something as a team as opposed to running around only being concered about yourself and how many points you are going to get that round. I really hope they do concider implementing something like this into the game sometime soon. It would definatly make it more fun.

In response to the above, I frequently join a squad and then get into a plane. However, I constantly monitor my chat and if the squad leader calls out armor or any other target including massed troops, I instantly head to him to take out the obstruction and assist his forward progression. Pilots can and do aid their squads too.

Yes they can, and that's what I meant in my first post.

But what DeadPoetic was saying is that some people just fly around point whoring and not work as a collective

Good thoughts. Something needs to be implented to encourage squads to stay together. It is frustrating to stay alive for members to spawn on you and when you reach a point, and go back, they are do not follow the orginal orders and go some where else.

Exactly. That's why I would like to know how to use this in game, so I could recreate my thoughts in my upcoming MOD. But, with my lack of python, I am unable to impliment them.

In a sense, if you were the SL and no one followed your orders, a penatly or punishment (other than them being kicked from the squad) but deduct their score.....

                            Re: Enhancing Teamwork.....

I agree with the idea and I do play in a squad and with the squad most of the time. The hard part is how to implement extra points while keeping it simple. If I remember correctly, EA/Dice stated they want to encourage team work, not make it mandatory. The biggest part they have failed is in following orders. There is no direct incentive to do so.

I think if you are in a squad, you have a better chance at points than the average player. You can capture flags quicker and there is a better chance to survive to get the points. If your a medic/support/engineer, you can constantly keep your team up and running. You can get more kill assist points because you will be fighting the same enemies.

The SL doesn't have much incentive to do their job. There should also be a bonus for winning. This could be based on the contribution (score or kills and flag capture) to your team's success. Maybe a 10% bonus if your team wins. Granted that won't get you a ton of points, but it will add up.
