with a gig it took around a minute on high. with 1.5gigs, like 30 seconds, and now with 2gigs, like 15 seconds or less.

I now have 2 gigs and i'm one of first into game in like seconds whereas i was taking 30 secs with 1 gig. All settings are medium and i run a defrag tool called VoptXP every day which keeps all my drives in tip top shape.

I used to have a pretty long Verifying Client Data also, When I bought my new harddrive with an 8mb cache it seemed to go down to only 10 seconds, its amazing. Look into a new harddrive or a fresh reformat.

I just reformatted my HDD and put and extra half gig of ram in for a total of 1.5g's of ram and it loads twice as fast as it did before, Im in the game at the very start (cable 512/128), no defraging and have left Virtual Memory at what ever windows put it at, my lighting setting is on Med (as is everything & 2xAA on a vanilla 6800, get about 50-60 fps average).

AMD socket 939 @ 2200 Mhz, 40 gig HDD

Faster Loading time can be caused numerous things. More ram, SATA HD, Defraged Pc..

an interview with Dice on another websites states, that the time that "verifiying client data" takes, has only little to nothing to do with your system.

Your stuff is being scanned and checked by the master/account (whatever) server and the gameserver itself.

So it all depends on how busy the mentioned servers are at that time.

but what no one knows is, why the Verifiying only takes a millisecond on Battlerecorder disabled servers.

Ram solves everything. If u search on google for a while you'll find a site with a table with all loading times (combinations like HIGH/2GIG and MED/1GIG and so on)

Look at pcstats below. on all high it takes about 30 secs, on all med about 10 secs. on all low also 10 secs.

anyone take into account, what i said about getting a bigger hard drive? Each hard drive when formatted looses some space to page filing.

When u get a new 80GB hard drive or something and format it, you dont always end up with the full 80GB you may have 75GB intsead......that is the space designated for page filing.

If u get a bigger hard drive the buffer gets bigger. SATA hard drives are a bit faster, get one if u dont have one.

What size hard drive do you have? If its a 60GB or less then u have the same problem i do.

If you have alot of crap running along with BF2, your virtual memory is gonna be in constant use, and its gonna take forever to load things like that.

Why does it take me another 3,4 minutes after the game is loaded, at the screen "verifying clinet data" every time I play new map?

I'm not really sure govedob, my son's game verifies a lot faster than mine, and we both have the same updated version of PB, the same dsl line so I don't know and connecting to the same server.
Good question, I've always wondered that myself.

It used to take me 3-4 minutes but my problem was not memory, it was the speed of the HD the game was installed to. Even though it was a newer HD, Windows was running it in PIO Access mode so I was getting 4.3 Meg / sec transfer speed. Once I got it switched to Ultra DMA Mode 4, I got 44 Megs / sec transfer and now verify in about 35 seconds. Download a program called HDTach and let it benchmark your hard drive speeds.

If you get a low speed (I had about 3.5mb on my BF2 drive, then do the following)

1) How to check...

If you are running XP, go to device manager and expand 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' Right click on 'Primary channel' and choose properties. (Primary is usually the channel you HD's are connected to)

Click on the 'Advanced Settings' tab, this will show the devices connected to that channel, and their current speeds. Virtually all modern hard drives should be running in Ultra DMA mode 5. Maxtor's on the right chipsets run Mode 6, and most CDrom drives run Mode 2. Any HD's running in PIO mode will seriously affect loading times, as this is the slowest speed possible.

2) How to fix...
XP will slow down the speed of devices if it receives errors while using the device, until it gets to PIO mode. This could be due to faulty cables, device or drivers.

First thing to try is simply change the the transfer mode to 'DMA if available' and reboot. If that does not fix it, uninstall the controller and reboot. XP should reinstall it and reset the fastest transfer speeds. You could also try both the MS drivers and the chipset manufacturers. (I had to install the NVidia drivers on my NF4 chipset, to fix IDE problems. I have also had them cause problems on my NF2 chipset system, so try both)

If it deteriorates or this doesn't fix it, check to make sure you are using 80pin cables, and that any transfer/DMA settings are correct in the BIOS.

That little damn green monitor has nothing to do with BattleRecorder, who the hell keeps telling you guys that stuff? I've been saying this for too long, I would have thought it would have been squashed by now. Here is a link directly from EA:

Honestly, EA would have to be full of **** to say it has nothing to do with your computer. If you look at your CPU and RAM load while that is happening, you will see that it is really chewing up alot of resources. Anything that is accessing your harddrive, like that, is going to be making a difference.

IVfluids is right.

You guys should put your finger out your arses and try log into a server without that green screen to the left of the server name. (If there is none green screen it means that the server has content search disabled)

I have 8MB cache on my HDD, but it's not a SATA, so it still runs the verifying client data in about 5 minutes on content data enabled servers.

Not long time ago I was one of those whiners who just critisized others informations without testing it.
I have now changed my pagefile to 1000-4095MB, and I'm only joining content searh disabled servers.

It takes about 1 minute to join the servers and it lags for maybe 50 seconds and then I'm ready to play even thought I got a 2.1ghz processor with a pack of 512MB RAM, I might get more RAM soon.

Now listen to me and IVfluids about the content search, we are right!
