3 min verifying client data?

Why does it take me another 3,4 minutes after the game is loaded, at the screen "verifying clinet data" every time I play new map?

It takes alot of time...depends on your ram.
I have 2gigs and map loads in a minute and a half.

i dont think he means the map loading. i only have a gig of ram and map loading goes quick.

verifying client data i think has to do with the server. there is 1 server i play at and the verification is extremly quick, about 30sec. then there are some servers that ive played that take several minutes.

well from 512mb, to 1gb to 2gb my loading times have increadsed by twice as much

I'm not really sure govedob, my son's game verifies a lot faster than mine, and we both have the same updated version of PB, the same dsl line so I don't know and connecting to the same server.
Good question, I've always wondered that myself.

verifying client data i think has to do with the server. there is 1 server i play at and the verification is extremly quick, about 30sec. then there are some servers that ive played that take several minutes.

That server probably isn't running Content check. If it doesn't have that green monitor icon in the server browser, it is not running it. Contrary to popular belief, that little icon does not mean BattleRecorder...

Its Virtual Memory, Page File swapping etc..... yes, ram plays a part, but if u wanna see quicker times, get a Bigger hard drive.

Mine takes about 4 minutes as well, its because i have a 40GB IDE hard drive with a 4MB cache.

Now if i got a 120GB+ SATA hard drive it would be much much quicker.

Good question, I've always wondered that myself.

You mention all that, yet you fail to compare you and your son's hardware.

That will show ALL the difference.

turn lighting down. I had mine on medium and put it to low and it changed the verifying thing from a minute to under 10 seconds. yes, really

Disk Defragmentation :)

defragment disk with bf2 installation and it will go faster ... not much like in 3 sec's but ... try :)

Defragging will probably help a little. My old PC was totally choking sometimes on the client data part, and it wasn't a crappy computer. I think the big thing to have on this game is plenty of RAM. I know it says you only should need 1 GB, but you need more than that. I would go up to 2 if you can.
