We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Sorry, wouldn't know how to help you with that. Have you searched? I seemto remember another member finding a workaround for the patching failed error.
Ok... I fixed the crashing to desktop at 62% problem and actually got to play 1 round of the game but when I tried to play again, at the same 62% it gave me some error about my memory not being sane. Ill try to capture the error next time but wtf is insane memory?
SAME problem for me man!!! Crashes at 62%! I reinstalled over and over again and instead of CTD at 62% it completely makes BF2.exe unresponsive forcing me to force restart my computer. I have done everything to get this to work and sometimes after changing the graphics settings and restarting a million times itll load the map once but one the next map comes up it goes right back to screwing up.
2.8GHZ Pentium 4 D
1GB PC 2700
Windows XP SP2
50G free on main drive
ATI x850xt PE 256mb (Catalyst 6.1 but also didnt work under 5.x either)
Uninstall Both Games
Reinstall BF2
Reinstall BF2: SF but before you do find the 1.1 patch and install that
Let it finish and run BF2 and do all of your grapical settings there and run a map from with BF2 because the glitch happens when BF2: SF tries to optimize your settings.
After its optimized on base BF2, SF should work now it worked for me
I'm having the same problem. I checked everywhere to find a solution. The game ran fine for six months then one day it wouldn't work. I fussed around with patching errors and finally got everything to work fine. Then when I started loading games it crashed at 62. Need some help as well if anyone knows!!
I have the exact same problem on one of my systems; with original installs and with patch I get the "memory not sane" error. As recomended, I have tried reinstalling, reformatting, increasing the page file, clearing the page file, defragging, redownloading latest BF2 update, with and without latest windows updates, updating video card drivers to latest realease, and updating motherboard chipset drivers to latest release. From what I've heard, BF2 also becomes rather unstable on overclocked systems; however, nothing is overclocked. So if anyone has any other suggestions or ideas on how to fix this please post.
There is one last suggestion I will check to see if it has been done on this computer or not (although I'm pretty sure it has from tweaking it): setting the WMI service to manual. I will also try setting the service to automatic and disabled to see if it makes any difference under BF2.
The only solution that I have found to work for some people is that they have kept on re-installing BF2 and finally happened to fall upon a chance of it working. Personally I prefer a much more reliable and stable solution if there is any.
Machine Specs with problem:
AMD XP 3000+ Barton Core
XFX NF2S-ALH n-Force 2 Motherboard
1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Corsair Unbuffered RAM
ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro, 128MB RAM
80GB Maxtor Hard Drive (ATA 133)
4x DVD+/-RW
Windows XP Pro
I am also running the same copy of BF2 on a different machine with no problems whatsoever, and considering BF2 used to work on the AMD 3000+ machine a while ago, I think it might either be a hardware conflict or a software issue; however, I will check the WMI Drivers and post back later whether it helped.
Specs for machine currently running BF2 with no problems:
AMD X2 4400+ Toledo core
ASUS A8R-MVP Motherboard
2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 Unbuffered Corsair RAM
ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB RAM
ATI Radeon X1800 Crossfire Edition 512MB RAM
250GB Maxtor Hard Drive (SATA 150)
16x DVD+/-RW
Windows XP Pro
[Edit:
Tested out using different settings for the WMI service. Only effect it has is that the game crashes with the memory sanity error at 42% instead of 62%.]
