Unfortunately...... About 2 months ago.
However once the new patch is out.. I may start playing again.
I have no operational issues with the game. It is more some of the people playing and their methods that detracted from my enjoyment. Not a whine/complaint... just a statemement

Well there has to be a better game first, maybe Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be that game, maybe not. Then again, mods could come out that blow everything we've seen out of the water and make BF2 the most popular game ever for years to come.

They should make the same maps avable off line so when it does die, you can still play the maps you like with the unlocks.

Thing about BF2, it is a great standby game. A great game to come back too... Or if you are up for some entertainment and you don;t want to think too hard...

There are quite a few other games I have played and completed (and enjoyed) since BF2 came out, but because of the BF style gameplay it is so easy to come back to. The maps are the same but every round is different. If you get board of BF2 then go play some SP game for a while. It will be great for a while because the AI characters don't noobtube or bunnyhop, but then you will finish and will want the AI to be a bit more challenging. Thats when you come back to BF2...

I am not playing much BF2 at the moment because I have allowed that time destoryer that is CIV4 into my life, but when I get board of that you can guess what I will come back to... (especially with the upcoming patch and expansion packs)

Well if you consider BF42, thanks to the mods, it was still going strong when BF2 came out - that's almost 3 years after initial release. Also, I think everyone would agree, there had been numerous "better" games that had come out in that period of time.

I know personally I was playing DC and FH almost daily. Even if I bought something new, nothing seemed to have the quality of game play as BF and I'd always go back to it.

Yes, not anytime soon for me either. I am still enjoying this game as much as the day the demo came out.

I think the game will live as long as the quality of the mod's that are made from it. Judging by Forgotton Hope 2, and Point of Existence 2, that will be a long time yet :)
