Playing players that are as good as you.

I find that many servers have all types of people, noobs, hackers, whoes, teamwork, clan ownage, etc.

    Do you think...

It would be nice to only be able to play with people in servers who are only at your level?

THis would rid the lowerskilled gamers, leaving the door open for some good fulfilling combat. Now this would be a setting the admin will be able to turn on or off or it can be a ranked server rule..

    What do you guys think?

Naw. The patch will take care of that issue.

      No, it won't.
People with not-so-good-aim won't start making headshots after the patch..

Maybe like having some servers with a minimum rank to enter? That might be fun to have a few of those to choose from; just to gaurantee a high level of competition for some people.

It isnt about the rank, it is about the K/D rate, W/L rate, u cant rate a player by thir rank u can get that just by playing normally, i mean it is freaking easy, sure if ur good it takes less time but any avg idiot can get new ranks

That's true..I mean, you can play for hundreds of hours and get lots of points like this, but still be complete newb.

But like Rank - Things like K/D rate and W/L rate don't really give any more of an indication of skill. Anyone whom pilots a jet or rides or pilots a Helicopter can have a high K/D rate. And anyone who plays on a server with squad mates stacked on one side can very well pull off a very high W/L rate...

ok something like AAs honor system, you gain honor buy teamwork, kills/deaths, objectives completed.

SOCOM had a system like that where you had the option of joining rooms that are specifically your rank. It doesn't promise anything, as a seasoned vet could easily just make a new profile and use the noobs to their advantage, but who's lame/low enough to do that?..

                  Oh, yeah, the bf2 community!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

But regardless, having a private only server, despite all the llamas that aren't new at all, are still destined to be much easier (or at least a bit) than normal ranked servers. I mean, come on. A Private-only unranked server. Sounds like cake, right? I do believe in training wheels for the really clueless players.

Re: Playing players that are as good as you.

There is currently NO way of judging the skill level of any player except maybe for K/D ratio...but you KNOW they would base it solely on rank (which we all know means nothing)

This sort of system would only result in MORE stat padding as people would want to feel elite.

They should consider making such a system based on time played only. That way, true newbies are more likely to be playing with other true newbies and people would be less likely stat pad their 'time played'. BUT...this could result in veteran players creating a newbie 'griefer' account.

I'm rambling now...I think it's a bad idea and nobody yet has been able to implement such a system that does what it is supposed to.

K/D ratio is not a good judge either.

I can't tell you how many times I have sacrificed myself for the good of the team. I am the one guy that will continue to storm the enemy flag all alone vs 16 guys, a chopper and a tank and keep coming back until i take it. I stop at nothing to try to do the best to win.

I am also that guy at the end you see who has played EVERY kit in the round you were just in.

but i think my K/D of .93 sux. In CS I probably had a 15 to 1 ratio on avg. but this is a different (BETTER) game.

Aint it a bit pointless for your team if you are going to capture a flag defended by 16 enemies?

I would back the hell of from a chopper already...lol, taking cover a bit helps too you know, rambo isn't great everywhere

i think it would be a really good idea, being a private myself....
My K/D rate is really bad though because i get killed by a 2nd leutenant or wat-have-you everytime i move......if only privates were aloowed on a server though.....it would be much more balanced

Re: Playing players that are as good as you.

I think score would be the best judge. Score takes experience into account unlike k/d ratio. I mean, what if I just started the game, go to my first server, toss a grenade and kill two enemies, then I log off. Now my ratio is 2:0. An infinite ratio. No server could bar me from entry. Does that mean I'm good? No.

Therefore I'd rather base it on score (rank), or number of kills with number of deaths subtracted from it.

However, I don't like the idea as a whole. I mean, we all paid our dues by being a n00b at some point (or we paid for the game at full price by buying it as soon as it came out). If this were implemented in a patch, the next n00b waves would have a leg up stat-wise. I guess it would be okay for unranked server though.

Still, why do people constantly talk about hating n00bs, and wanting to play with veterans? It sounds more like an ego booster than serious talk to me. For me, what makes this game fun is the "unpredictable single-player game with really good AI" feel it has now that I've gotten good.
