    New people

Is there a way for only new people to be on a server and no one who is above a private and stuff?....coz i'm new and naturally not very good....but i cant get any better when i'm dieing every time i move:cry:

    And no, not singleplayer

Also, does your rank get updated by playing on a LAN?

    Re: New people

You have to be playing online on a ranked server in order to update your rank. As far as new servers, it'd be nice if it was an option so that only privates can join or something. None exist as far as I know pal..

you won't get any better if you're starting off playing as a sniper so play as a medic or special forces and get a feel for the weapons
I'm unsympathetic to your request - the only way you will improve is by playing players who are better than you
Join a teamworking squad and practice
And why would you turn your nose up at single player - its a good a place as any to gain experience
finally - no you cannot get points on a lan - it has to be a RANKED server

In other games - not sure BF2 has any - you could find "noobies are us" types of servers (tons of them in CS:S)..

            Re: New people

I have seen a few servers out there that say things like "new players online" and such. doesn't mean that it is enforced...but really if you want to get better, just play on unranked servers or something where scores don't matter...

Yea I suggest medic. It's the fastest way of getting points without getting in harms way. You can get some going pointage from healing/rezing.

Or even better go sniper and watch things from afar. Sure it can be hard actually hitting anything with the rifle but hey it will be fun watching your teammates fly through the air and land on roofs and things.

                  Re: New people

The best way to learn how to fly is to hop into a transport chopper and spam 'Get in! Get in!' until each and every position is filled. It doesn't matter if you're new and have never flown before, it's incredibly important to make sure that your chopper is full of passengers mainly because:

                  1) You weren't thinking of taking it alone, were you? Don't waste assets, it's called a transport chopper for a reason.
                  2) The extra passengers usually know what they're doing and they can offer you tons of useful advice.
                  3) The machine gunners, especially on the MEC/PLA transport choppers will obliterate everything in your path and protect you from certain doom.
                  4) If you're about to crash, just bail out. Someone will either take over the controls or they will all decide/know when to bail out too. No sweat.
                  5) If the chopper is not absolutely full, the weight distribution will be uneven and even the best aces of bf2 have a tough time dealing with this.

PM me if you need more tips. Oh yeah, and don't put metal in the microwave!!

Maybe we could get Dice to code some big "student driver" signs for tanks and such for all the noobies. Or how about an orange beany for them to wear.

                      alabama,

I feel your pain as I got my assed romped when I first started playing. You just have to get used to the game. . . it is tricky, but immersing yourself in good competition will help you learn faster.

                        Re: New people

There are no BF2 ranked or even unranked server blocking high ranks, you will have to learn the game the hard way .

Also, just read the sticky's here in the forum, there are many many good tips there for getting better and tips for killing or gaining points you even didn't know

Welcome to the battle Alabama619 hope I can shoot you some time!

The best way I have found is look for a clan server that is ranked and that the clan has open comms Ventrillo or Teamspeak.

Get on comms make friends keep going back to the same server when the clan memebers are online and hopefully they will let you play on their side and some one will take you under his or her wing and teach you the ropes.

I would suggest playing support roles i.e. Support, Engieer or Medic let the clan players take the Assault roles Armor & Aircraft since you are new you will not have these skills yet. But don't worry you should pick things up quickly if you put the time in and are willing to learn.

You will make friends quick being jonny on the spot will ammo or first aid or defending and repairing the Commanders assets you will also pick up points too.

If you get good enough they may ask you to join them.

                          Good Luck & GG's

                            Re: New people

I understand why you asked, but really, unless you consider points important, which most good players don't, it doesn't really matter. The skill comes with time and as far as kit goes, play what makes you happy. If you like being a sniper then play as a sniper. There are tons of threads with helpful hints. Find a couple maps you enjoy and go to town. It does suck getting killed over and over but even the best will sometimes get into a bad round and you have the choice to bail or stick it out. If you look at my death streak you will see that I always stick it out. This gives me a pretty cruddy kill/ death ratio but you know what? Who cares. You will find very quickly that the things that will make you mad have nothing to do with skill. Just take time to enjoy the ride, get caught up in the points hype and you will find this is a game full of stat padders and jet whores. Enjoy what you're doing as though it's a good single player game and this game will last forever. :)

Why does everyone like being a medic so much?

I look at players stats and it says the most played kit is a medic and stuff....apart from healing people, whats so good at about them?
