OK i think i might have solved this stupid little problem cause i have been reading around that Nvidia Nforce drivers have a set of nvidia IDE drivers that come with it and those are a very big corruption to most people's systems because some other guy had the same problem that i had so i installed the latest Nforce drivers without the IDE drivers and i'll have to wait and see what happens
Yes, if there is a "chink in your PC's armour" (so to speak), BF2 will find it, exploit it, and take it down. Thank G-d I've got a fraternity brother who is a computer engineer and has TWICE un-phucked my system (bad drivers for integrated sound) and once a bad Windows XP update (had to reinstall XP fro freaking scratch). Damn you BF2! Of course, I'm still playing...
