Drop all your bombs, don't refuel more than one bomb, the next time then refuel to full.
Now you can / must drop bombs individually. At first this will be VERY uncomfortable, as you have to rapidly click 5 times to release all your bombs, but it's very neat to strafe that apc with your cannon, then just drop a single bomb and waste his arse.
It's similarily easy to switch back to normal mode, just do the base refill thing again.

Divebombing is not always the best way to bomb. What divebombing does- it reduces the flight time of the bombs from releas to target at the expense of your own time (maneuvers, positioning, aim), it may not take that much of the time, but has its expenses.

I don't see any arguements against it there. Given the flawed physics of Battlefield 2, the faster you go, the tighter you can turn, you don't lose time in maneuvering for a dive bomb anymore than you would going around to do a level bombing run. Also a harder target for ground fire in most scenarios. (not that ground fire ever will be effective against planes in BF2 though)

The only expense with bf2's flight model is that you can't strafe properly with the gun, which is why I almost never do a full dive.
However, the total stuka dive, apart from cracking me up, has the advantage of your target having extremely little time to evade, because your payload appears out of seemingly nowhere (most vehicles can't look straight up).

Ive been "had" like that and it certainly does leave the victim stunned sometimes

And BTW, my arguments were no where near being "counterarguments". I just said that dive-bombing can be a waste fo time if you can succesfully bomb with the same precisio without performing a dive.

And Id argue against "the faster you run the sharper you turn". I´d write a novel to compare plans and their stats and how players use them all the same regardless of certain obvious advantages some of them have compared to others that are turned to fatal disadvantages in the hands of players who dont pay attention to details.

If I see the bomb... I start running... Good enough ??

                Re: describe your bombing run

I never do single bombs in the bomber - because it always drops 1 then 4 - instead of one at a time. However, I always switch to single in the attack planes.

I never adhere to always dive bomb, or always strafe - it all depends on the map and the terrain.

IMHO it is pretty much a dumb move to dive bomb in the bomber. By dive bombing all of your bombs are getting concentrated into one spot - rather than being a chain.

I have experimented with flying level and dropping them from altitude (only good for ground troops since they are dispersed so much). The best I have found is to be in a slight dive and strafe the targets. This allows for more damage over a greater area of effect.

Changing speed, altitude, dive angle - all effect at what time you need to release your payload in order to hit your target. Trying to generalize it and say drop at x spot on your bombing reticule is rediculous. If you are just learning to bomb - do yourself a favor and start your own server - park some vehicles out where you can hit them - and practice practice practice on different angles of attack, speed, etc.

Also if you can get a hat switch or something to quickly hit f11 right when you drop your payload - you can really help yourself see what you are doing.
