    describe your bombing run

hi there - just been playing in a bomber (only 2 games so far) and was wondering from what altitude you drop your bombs, and from how far infront of the target? I can nail tanks some of the time, but not dead on. I think I must be dropping them too late or something - what angle to the bombs come down at? Im pretty good at judging ballistic curvature but its best when you can see the projectile lol :P

    thanks,

I take off, switch to bomb view, find a target, bomb it, fly away, reload and repeat.

    And i dive bomb.

To judge your effectiveness, switch to rear view once you've released.

I do a fly by to find my target, then i get into position. But i get pretty high altitude, come down on a very steep angle and drop the bombs pretty late.

Dive bombing is very effective, and absolutly essential in the fighter jets.

Jump in the jet and hit F9, this will give you a nice open view as you fly. Climb to about 350, and level out, circle watching UAV and for flags that turn, come in hard, light up the ground with the guns, and aim at the target indicator, drop pull up, repeat. The steeper the dive the more accurate the shot will be.

Using the f-15 or equivalent, I bomb at a fairly low altitude and make sure that the sound of bombs being dropped is still going on as I pass over the target. Hope that makes sense [does to me]

F35 bomb sights, bomb with the tip of the vertical line set on target at the maximum non-afterburner speed. Around 900 or so. 90% hits. Note that you will only get a straight hit while doing so with the first bomb, second will go 10 metres off. Just switch to 1 bomb mode and you can do 2 accurate runs.
To apply similar way to other fighters, simply use a black marker to mark a cross on your screen at the place where F35 bomb sights vertical tip would be.

I go down to about an altitude of 30 and then start my bombing run. i think its more effective

                    Re: describe your bombing run

I put the crosshairs on the vehicle in question, full speed + after burner, and about 20 feet from the ground, hit exit vehicle key, then parachute button, and watch them die.

Oh, wait...regular bombing run, not what I do to particularly annoying people. :p In a bomber, roughly a 45 degree dive, crosshair of the bombing hud a bit above the target to allow from the trajectory of the bombs, gets'em every time. (heck, you get a 5 bomb burst...dive bombing is SO the way to go :p )

thanks, that helped a bunch. When I bomb, i stay 5 feet off the ground, I always get the kills but lose 10 bars of health every time.

I have best luck pointing the plane straight down, since i gave up on the notion that bombs could be aimed. Slamming the vehicle straight into any soldier seems to have the right effect, well, almost

Its better to dive bomb, you will not loose any health that way. Plus tanks love it when you fly nice and low.

                            Re: describe your bombing run

In the bombers I do max. 15°-20° dives, often strafing the targets before releasing. I fly at 50-150 altitude, depending on air traffic and situation.
I also like switching to single-bomb mode so I can use single bombs to take out smaller targets without wasting 5 on them.
I release them at maybe 1/2 the way into the vertical reticule bar.
When a gunner gets in my bomber and won't hop out to let a friend in, I fly head down and put a tesa strip with a hand drawn reticule on my monitor, mirroring the real one. Then same strategy as above, but take the bomb drop delay into account. I always stay exactly horizontal with my wings, otherwise it won't work.
With fighters, I near always single bomb, the half of the bar and the end of the bar are two important marks to release by; with the fighter I generally fly at 120 and take not too steep dives.
I always hit f11 after a run, to see what large vehicles are still moving, because you can't always tell from the kill list whether you wiped out the intended target, or a different target that you didn't see.
I also kill things in hangars (APC on cleansweep by refueling station) by flying low (30m) and not diving, just slamming the bombs forward into the target.

I haven't flown the bomber much but didn't realise you could drop 1 at a time. How do you switch into this mode?
