Re: 6 reasons to stop playing BF2 once Quake Wars is released

oh and my personal opinion, i never liked games like quake, unreal tournament, doom 3. Maybe its because i am getting old, i dont know, but i really get bored after 5 minutes when i play games with robots, and aliens and all that science fiction stuff in it. I wouldn't change BF2 to any game out there even when there are less than 5 servers running it in the world.

That AA stuff looks like crap, and it doesn't seem to be any fun either ( "hello? is anybody there ? oh guess not, must travel another 50km's i guess..")

I doubt you've played Operation Flashpoint...

The good thing about AA is that there may be "downtimes" where you're driving your tank around looking for a fight - but that will get rid of all the kiddies looking for a quick fix hopefully.

well half life 2 deathmatch has 100x times better graphics than BF2, but do you see 1 million people playing hl2? of course not. And don't make judgements before playing the game. As far as i understand, AA won't be like BF2 where you run individual servers. There will probably a few hundred servers and you will be playing among 300 other players.

These are modern combat games. Its not supposed to be like counter strike where you just click the join game and start shooting people. It involves tactics, strategy, patience, teamwork.

Oh and by the way, the AA stuff that you call "crap" is being made by developers of Operation Flashpoint, a game that once was the most popular FPS game ever made in the world.

I think it will provide a great option for people who come here everyday more than they go to bathroom and complain about how unrealistic BF2 is and how bunnyhopping and Anti Aircraft missiles suck. I would really love to see the look on their face when they die from an M4 bullet that was fired 200 meters away behind a tree. I guess then they would hop in a supersonic JSF, make 90 degree turns with 15Gs and drop 2 tactical air-to-ground missiles from 10 feet of the ground and pwn them noobs huh?yeah...right

I m not saying this game is great (armed assault), all i am saying is, QW can't replace BF2 as the people who play BF2 will not be interested in QW most likely because of the game type differences. All i am saying is, armed assault is a better replacement for BF2 than QW can be. But i said this before and i will say it again, i would never exchange any game to BF2 as its the best game that balances realism, fun, teamwork, tactics. The point is, you may or may not get serious with BF2, its up to you, you are a fun person, fine, you ll have fun, or you are a retired Army captain and you love tactics and seriousness, you ll still get what you want from BF2. That's why i love BF2.

futuristic games are so uninteresting. I'de rather play something that seems more "real"

              1. being developed by ID and Splash Damage who support their online communities;

ID?? They have no idea what gameplay is. Doom3 had an amazingly advanced game engine with dated ten-year-old game play.

              2. gorgeous graphics that wont require an uber quad-sli machine with 5 gigs of ram

Exageration I think. They both run the same on my machine and BF2 does alot more than "graphics" which is alot more than can be said for any ID game.

              3. objective based online play that will ensure greater team play

BF2 doesnt have teamplay? I dont know where youve been playing it.

              4. vehicles have destroyable components (yes, u can destroy the wheels off vehicles)

              5. laser designated strikes

[sarcasm]WOOOOOOOW. Thats a major reason to buy any game[/sarcasm] Is it balanced? Does anyone care since the game play doesnt go about an IQ of 10.

              6. kickass looking vehicles.

Important word "looking"...how they play isnt mentioned

I refuse to play as the Strogg. Too wierd.
                Humans ftw.

I can't wait for Quake Wars. It will be BF2 on Amphetamines.

Tenshi - Its balanced, but in a different way than BF2. Instead of relying on one commander, each class has its objectives and skills - support can set up artillery cannons, for example. And the enemy team will try to destroy that - a scout will spot them, then any spec ops in the area will receive the order and if they take it out they earn points.

Re: 6 reasons to stop playing BF2 once Quake Wars is released

lol..people still don't realise QW is not developed by id..and has nothing to do with D3 or Q4 graphics, it's an improved engine with better graphics and with no performance loss..(will have to w8 til we get to play it to know for sure, though, but graphics sure look better).
Noone believed D3 engine could render nice outdoor environments, when it first came out

I think it would be better to lock this thread:P
People will always have different tastes and understandings..this could go on forever.

                  And about teamplay...
In BF2 there's the commander. One guy commanding everyone and controlling all the gadgets like artillery/uav and what not.
In QW, different classes deploy and use different things. So it's more imortant to have all classes in your team and good players playing them. They have to work together.

Is Armed Assault, the new tittle for Operation Flashpoint 2 since they lost the right for the title to the publisher???

If so, yeh it will rock!!

                      Good years ahead for gamers!!

It does look really impresive, and I think most ppl will stop playing bf2 and move to this.

                        But whens it coming out???
Coz dice and Ea could fix everything an keep everyone happy by then

Edit= One thing I just noticed on teh trailer (http://www.enemyterritory.com/)
I see activisions name on the end . I hope they only publish it to help sell it, cos when they join in making patches i.e trying to help on CoD2 they suck the game up! Imo

Grrrr. I'm having a "bad bf2 day", saw this thread and figured I'd vent =P

I don't know much about Quake Wars though...

Anyway, I'm really starting to despize BF2. It's the only game that gives me crap on my system. I unsuccessfully installed an X-FI Platinum sound card (after spending the weekend on it it still collapsed into crackling and other assorted noise after about 45 minutes after a fresh reboot). So I've reverted back to the onboard sound for now, and lo-n-behold, BF2 no longer works. I'm currently reinstalling it and Special Forces to see if that fixes the problem. Every other game recognizes the onboard sound just fine and dandy. Why is BF2 so picky? Grrrrrrrr.

Sure, I'll get Quake Wars simply so I don't end up stabbing my CPU one night even though I don't know what it is =P
