Performance issues, yeah, but not enough to spoil the game. We're talking a few less frames per second, nothing horrendous. Just lower your settings a bit, and go on servers with 32 players and less. The sixty four player servers can kill performance on certain maps, like Warlord and Iron Gator for example.

I'm pretty much opposite spectrum as most posters in this thread. I tried SF and I do not like it at all. The maps are so scrunched together that you can't do any decent sniping. There is is also the problem of feeling there are no sides. I played alot of Rogue Spear over the years and enjoy the feeling of a start point and knowing basically where your friends are and where the enemies are. In SF the maps are so tight you don't really have that feeling of a front line. It's just a big whirling up close fight. I prefer a bit of distance and some seperation to allow for tactics other then a GL rush.

I enjoy the unlocks for the most part though and I'm glad you can use them in vanilla.

I've got ten bucks right here that says there will be another shiny add-on disc at $35 which fuses the BF2 and BF2:SF features together in ranked servers...

ATVs in Oman, grappling hooks and ziplines in FuShe and the whatsamacallit three seater -- Desert Raider? -- in Mashtuur. Mmm....

          $10 - - I'll take that bet!
(Not on ranked servers that is!)

I would say if you enjoy more urban combat, IE Mashtur City, Strike At Karkland, then chances are good you will enjoy SF. Personally, I like it way better than Vanilla. It's the game I wish BF2 was.

SF is great for what it is, a chaotic infantry run and gun game, much better than BF2 in that aspect.

I agree, plenty of action, most maps aren't as big as vanilla and if you hate getting spammed constantly by jets then you will like it. Definitely is infantry focused.

Yeah, SF is very different. Instead of getting constantly killed by Jets you get constantly killed by Helis!

I don't play and I bought it, it's large increase in lag and a lack of support on communties. Even still the choppers make the maps unbalanced esp when playing a 64 player server. I found it too easy. Ever time I sneaked up on someone, i could kill them, there was that much action when I played but yet again that's my opinion. Also there is a lack of people and servers where I live and most of the players are Yanks from overseas. Imo, I'd rather play Wake Island anyday that play SF. It's got some cool features but I got bored of them pretty quickly. If you wan't to try it out, goto your local Net Cafe or soemthing and have a play.

I bought it last week, weeks after the releasedate,i was to interested to let it stay in the shop :P
What i found out that the performance get's lower sometimes, and lot of lag with the big maps...It's like they used the very first code of BF2...
But i expected the gameplay to slow down, but instead it became harder and faster, probely cause the small *ss maps.Strange,i thought EA would consider this the fact they where making a 'Special Forces' add-on,with teams like the SAS and the Navy Seals that uses stealth...

SF is great, it has some excellent maps and no planes!!

I got SF the day it came out and have only played Vanilla BF2 once since.
