Sorry for sounding like a complete ass but....what is this, is from one of the boosters, or a different game, that would be cool if that was a static wreck besides a runway

edit:now that I think of it it looks like a completely different game :), that watermark kindoff gives it away :P

Lock On owns, I just bought it last week

If you like air combat, it is a must. If you like the A10, it is a must. Its a complete simulation, and is totally badass. Needs more players though.

NATO reporting names for FSU/Russian and some Chinese aircraft are decided by the Air Standards Co-ordinating Committee (ASCC).
AFAIK, most FSU/Russian and some Chinese don't have official nicknames in Russian or Chinese, but some FSU/Russian aircraft have unofficial nicknames in Russian, and some FSU/Russian AF personnel call some aircraft by their NATO nicknames.
Some Chinese aircraft now have official nicknames in Chinese, such as the Fei Bao (Flying Leopard) fighter/bomber and Shan Ying (Mountain Eagle) trainer.

Disgreed. In real life, after WWII, China have fought: Taiwan, South Korea (with UN), Russia, India, and Vietnam.
You ever wondered why China still flies the J-7 (MiG-21), and only begins to fly the J-11/Su-27 and Su-30 in the late 1990s; while India, North Korea, and Vietnam have been flying the MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-29, and Su-30?

I hope it's not the Fly Tigers. Being that one of the maps is in PA....they should include the PA-ANG 111th. An A-10 unit located in Willow Grove, PA (just north of Philadelphia).

More info on the PA-ANG 111th

BTW that is my dad's unit :) And god damn I love that plane.

I wonder why they put the painted Shark on the nose of the A10 in the game.

In WW2 the chinese hired American pilots to be their air force. They painted Sharks on the noses of the planes for a symbolic reason. The japanese religion/belief was that if they were eaten by a shark they wouldn't go to heaven. So when they were shot down by the planes with the sharks painted it was meant to be symbolic that they were going to hell.

I suppose they just put it in the game because it looks cool?

Presuming you're a big fan of the A-10, then you probably knew the story about USAF Captain Kim "KC" Campbell's A-10 in OIF, and its epilogue.

Cool, I heard of that before.

Heavy Metal did a good hour long spot on the A-10, the thing is a beast. I've been up close to a couple of A-10's, by far my favorit jet.

A good site for A-10's is here

I believe only 1 unit does the shark teeth, the flying tigers.
