Windows Media Player Codec ERROR after installing Nvidia!

After installing my 6800GT my windows media player alwasy tries to "requesting for codec" and then it says "error downloading codec" however the video plays but there is no sound? im using realtek as my sound device. What gives? i reinstalled MP10 and the realtek as well stillsame problem? anyone having the same problem?

I got the same problem, but I got it after installing the WMF update of Windows XP. I reinstalled WMP10 and all codec I could ever need, but it's still not properly fixed. With other media players it all works fine.

ru sure the video file evenm played before you installed the new drivers?

windows media player does not even play dvd movies as standard youneed to install all your additional codecs for it to play certain files. For instance if you want to watch a divx movie then u need the latest divx player installed. Once its installed you don't need to use it as windows media player will have its codecs, same goes for a dvd movie wmp gets its codecs from players like power dvd etc.

Somtimes you ned extra codecs for isntance certain divx movies use the ogg vorbis codec for the audio and so u need to install that codec for it to work.

AC3 I believe is the audio codec you need (most of the time) if playing a dixv/xvid and you don't get any sound.

im playing a mpeg movie file or mpg and there is video but there is no audio. AND YES IT USED TO WORK I SWEAr TO GOD!
it says my missing codec is "1 codec". where can i get this? ive tried google to no avail.

Can you please download Gspot from

It'll tell you what code, if any, is missing.

ok it says something like..."Partial Failure: 0x00040242: VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER"

I get the error code C00D10D1

Did you grab the AC3 codec that I mentioned earlier ?

What does Gspot says about the audio info of the file that you're playing basides the lines you posted earlier.

an you open this in IE and see if any of the sound sources work please?

it doesnt at all even load or play. what is wrong? how do i fix this problem?
