But the AK is a living legend, let them have the gun. I love it :)

Well I like the AK47 too and it does its job very well, but like someone said having Type 56 (Chinese AK47) in this game would be like giving the Americans the M1Garand or BAR for the assault class. It's just so anachronistic.

No there is no AK-47 or Type 56 in service with the PLA today. I'm absolutely certain about that. The Type 81 rifle, which is an mod/improvement on the AK-47, looks very different from the original AK-47 or AK-101.

They could even use the regular Type-95 for the assault class. The Americans have the M16A2 as the AR and M4 as the Carbine. The MEC has the AK101 AR and AK74U Carbine. The Chinese could use the same family of small arms for these classes as well.

i think its fair to say that EA/Dice were a bit lazy when choosing the PLA and MEC weapons as they made them far too similar and given Chinas current spending on arms i'd guess that yeah they are far more advanced than as depicted in bf2.

And what about the RPG? That weapon is legendary and would be a natural weapon of choice for any 'middle eastern coalition' but you only get it on SF when playing as a insurgent.

Why try to make it sound like the Type 56 is a different weapon? It IS an AK47, just with a couple small differences and made by a different company. It was a liscensed copy of the AK47, and as far as looks and function is no different. If it annoys you that much change the name in your localized file then you can see, You[Type 56]Whoever.

That's irrelevant since the point is neither one has been current issue in major nations for a long time. Russia switched to AK-74 long ago and I'm sure China and even ME countries supplied by Russia are now using that or its equivalent. AK47s are probably mostly used in the third world and terrorists these days (or sitting in reserve armories of China/Russia).

Ok, so why aren't you complaining that the US snipers don't use M40's, or some other rifle that units have used? Not all of them use the M24 you know, ours used the Remington 300.

Lots of infantry are carrying M16A4s, but I don't see a big uproar about that either.

I am not sure if DICE does apply velocity differences and power punches for different weapons. The Chinese assualt weapons currently uses 5.8 mm casing. The west use 5.6 mm, and the Russian AK101 is using 7.62 mm. All these differences will generate different velocity and power punch. That will make the distinction between the weapons. Does anyone know if DICE making the distinction among them? To me, I feel that AK47 (7.62 mm) seem to have more damage than others. However, the rest of the rifles feel similiar to me (atleast, compare between chinese new weapon and american M16A2.)

I'M not complaining about it at all; weapon names in BF2 have no relation to real weapons with those names anyway so it doesn't really bother me. The Remington 11-87 is a semi-auto shotgun but it's pump-action in BF2. Weapons with the same real-life stats vary 100% or more in BF2 (5 12gauge shotguns have damage ranging from 8x12 to 8x30, .50cal sniper rifle does 90% more damage then .50cal HMG, 9mm pistols do more damage than 9mm SMGs, etc.). I don't like it but it isn't going to change except in mods.

See http://wiki.bf2s.com/weapons/comparison for weapon stats in BF2.
