A friend of mine has a dell integrated extreme 2 graphics card that came with his dell and bf2 works flawlessly. so look more carefully, even contact dell if u have to.

if it ends up meaning u need a new vid card u may as well build your own pc, u can do it for very cheap now if u get the right equipment

Dell will not support the game. I can tell you that because I work for dell, I'm sitting in a call center right now. If you want support on any piece of software, then you have to pay $100.

What kind of dell do you have? Is it the small tower or the regular tower? What is the make and model?

The one that I am on right now is a Dimension 4700, Pentium 4(2.8GHz), 504MB RAM. The other one that I will probably end up modifying is an HP, not sure of the specs on that one, but close to this one.

I just mentioned that otherwise he'd have to wait in the Q simply to be told to go elsewhere. As for how the job is, its stressful but a great job. I've worked in another call center before this one, and most of my friends have worked in various call centers, and dell is by far the best to work for.

                  Now as for the problem.

The Dim 4700 will either have a PCIe or an AGP slot on the motherboard, depending on when the system was built, so you can install the Graphics card into that machine, if the HP cant take it.

no bro, dont listen to these guys about upgrading your video card yet
I have a 6800gt and I assure the ctd your experiencing has nothing to do with it.
If your using a program that forces refresh rates, such as reforce, disable it
Also, make sure you have the same res on your desktop as the one your going to use for bf2.
                    hope that helps :)

I have already made absolutely positive that my computer does not have refresh force or anything like that. How do I confirm that they are at the same resolution? Don't I have to open the game to do that?

Unless you've modified your shortcut, all BF2 games should be set to 800X600 or 1024X768, to find out what your system is set to.

Right click the destkop, left click properties.
                          Click on the settings tab.
At the lower left hand corner you'll see screen resolution. Set that to what ever BF2 is set for.

Ok, now I have the stats for the computer I plan to modify. It is an HP Pavilion a527x, 2.10GHz AMD Athalon, 448MB of RAM(I'll add a hundred or so.). How do I find out exactly what type of video card will fit in my computer(I believe the 2 types are AGP and PCI?)? If I need to open it up to find out, what exactly am I looking for? Thanks!

I just purchased a 256MB ATI Radeon 9550 AGP graphics card. I also got an extra 512 MB of ram so I will have 1 GB of RAM once I make the original stick work at full capacity again.
