    Great post variable !

To be fair to myself (!) it's generally the way I try to play on public servers. Join a game, take a look at the squads formed. Hit Shift (or whatever it is) to see where the squads are and choose one that's sticking together. Then see if they need a medic or support or AT and join them.

And as 1/2Hawk said, it should be second-nature to see a guy and spot hit just before you begin firing.

Good points all around and something for us all to learn.

He says "hell no" then proceeds to lead his squad to the flag and cap it. I figure.. he hit the wrong button. So by now the security place in front of the palace has been taken. i arty the heck out of the 14 SAS there leaving maybe two. I say attack here. He replies again with NO. then skips over there and captures it. mind you.. he was a gunny or msgt or something.. higher rank so i KNEW he KNEW better.. and thought.. this dude is F-ing with me.

the entire rest of the map was like that. (i had 6 squads.. all but two were following orders (he was one.) well.. he WAS following orders.. but basically just telling me NO all the time which somehow.. seemed to ruffle my in-game commander mind. (8 years in the Marines I am still a bit indoctrinated lol)

which basically.. brings me to my earlier point.. when i see whats going on .. say if i was in the same situation.. i will ALWAYS say "YES SIR!" if for no other reason than to make the commander feel warm and fuzzy. then i will do what I deem necessary for my team's/squad's survival and overall victory. (which is follow the commander's original order about 75% of the time) the other 25% I realize i have some moron commander who doesn't even know what a UAV is and thinks Arty is his uncle who just got out of prison and smells like sausage.
I hear what you are saying. When I play commander (now and then), it seems like very few squads will actually follow orders. The only time I normally issue them is when some one asks for them. I try and support those who are attacking flags with UAV. I normally only use arty to prevent a flag that has no friendly presence from being taken.

I think it's helpful for a commander to give some verbal info. An example would be how empty a given flag is or that some one is going to capture a given base. In addition, I think it's helpful to let the squads know you are there to support them. If they ask for supplies, I drop them (unless I need them from my assets) and so on.

Again on topic: I was playing sniper for a bit and still felt the need to point out vehicles/armor and do my best to protect a few flags. I am not the greatest of snipers, but the intent to help my team is ingrained into my brain.

I've been running into some pretty sloppy teams lately, so here's a bump for the new players and non-searchers.

Thanks for the post. Basic stuff, but reinforcement of these basic skills are is always beneficial. At least to me....................................

A lovely post. You hit 3 major points that have to be implemented in that voiceover tutorial during single player. However, if I may add my own two cents...

You touched on it all-so-briefly, but defense is a hard sold lesson. All too many players get caught up in the zerg rush that they get tunnel vision and ignore their flanks, sometimes letting the lone enemy footsoldier sneaking past. This can have a disastrous snowball effect where letting one enemy squad leader past you can mean all your bases will be back hacked in a matter of a minute or two.

When capping a base, for the love of all that is good and kitten-like, please stay at the base or at least lay down some C4. I cannot extoll upon you guys just how many points I've earned, the amount of adrenaline I've experienced, or the bragging rights I've expressed from fending off droves of incoming forces, sometimes while solo. Doing the same as a team has the added effect of commeraderie. So if you're working with a team, even if a little loosely, hover in the general vicinity of a base. You can at least absorb most of an incoming attack, spot the enemies, and maybe respawn at the base before the flag goes white.

Very good post.Wish I could get more than 5 servers in the list with less than a 120 ping.As a result I usually end up lonewolfing it.Even tho there are a few squads, most of them are seperated all over the map doing their own thing. On rare occassions do I hook up with a squad working together to actually get something done.In eiher case,I'm always spotting anything that moves within my range of vision. If I can attack and kill it I will.If not, maybe someone else can that is closer to the target and better equipped to do so.That suggestion of forming a squad after capturing a CP in the rear is a good idea.I never thought of doing it quite honestly.I will always do just that in future.Hopefully some of the peeps that play the same servers as I will follow this thread and do the same and my hours in a squad will far excede those lonewolfing.:)
