The x1600 series aren't that good, better stick to 6800GS , but if you have a x800GT at this moment, why upgrade to an 6800 or 1300 serie , you won't have a noticible performance gain .

When you realy want to upgrade from your curent card, and want to see a true performance gain, you will need to buy a 6800 ultra, X800XT , or spend even more money to 7800 / x1800 serie .

About ATI fan, I was one to, but lately (last year actualy) ATI hasn't been performing good, or they have major isues with availability, or there cards can't keep up with Nvidia, they can't bring there new cards out due to tons of problems.

And now there curent 1800 cards perform good, but consume power almost like an SLI system , and lets not forget that ATI's crossfire still isn't available like it should be

The performance gains will be absolutely noticeable.
Going from 8 Pixel Pipelines to 12? Going from 475MHz core clock and a 980MHz memory clock to a 485MHz/1100 MHz doesn't sound like a lot, but check this.
The 6800GS is the competitor to the X1600XT, a card far above the class of the X800GT, and it kicked a mudhole in it. So I am assuming that this 6800GS will readily outclass my paltry X800GT. I really didn't want to spend more than $200 because I think people who pay as much for a GPU as most people pay for an entire PC are insane. It is throwing $$ away. I am sure I will upgrade to the 7800 when the price drops. For now though I am sworn off ATI until they regrow their balls.
