Yeah, because after all, that's in the "real world," and we don't want our children to live sheltered lives, do we?

Oh, and how about taking her to see the new horror movie Hostel. I mean, she understands that BF2 is just a game, so she'll certainly understand that Hostel is just a movie, a work of fiction, all make believe, nothing to get upset about.

Of course, arguing the Nuture vs. Nature aspect of a child's development on a gaming forum is a futile task, so never mind.

Well, mine is 8 months and iam waiting for her to grow up to be a gamer. And letting your kid play games 5 years or less is not bad...games are ment to have fun...

Interesting. Is that good or bad?

Ive seen people drop out of school, quit their jobs, and go on welfare because they played BF2 for too damn long (especially common with CS).

            Im going to say: bad.

LOL, wait until BF3 when we see 9yoAshley on the leader boards...

Just an FYI, hostel isnt based off fiction. I guess the kid will understand that too... lmao

Re: My 5 year old daughter plays!

well since I haven't seen much of anything written here about this, all I have to say is her stats aren't that bad considering she's only 5! Heck I have friends my age that are worse than she is lol

edit: through all the posts i have read here so far, 98% of them are negative. So what if she plays, I remember reading something about how a study in the 80's said the game pacman would cause people to go nuts or something. Since Mario could, did you go out and try to jump on people's heads to squish them? Wow another 100 points! So what if she is only 5, I've been playing bloody, gory, shoot-em-up games ever since the original half-life when I was like 10, and my path in life is going to be saving people, not killing them. If you want to believe the media's hype about video games and they are the source of satin and evil....go ahead, because it's crap. I don't think a 5 year old should be playing something like GTA San Andreas with the drugs, sex, hookers, and everything else it has in it, but bf2? Bf2 is nothing compared to other games.

Then all the better! After all, as boabynixon stated, she should live in the real world and not in "some candy coated dreamland."

Edit: It doesn't really matter that the story is based on real events (assuming it is). The movie she'll be watching is not real--you don't honestly believe those actors are really allowing their toes and fingers to be amputated, do you?--and she'll understand that because, as implied, all children know the difference and it in no way affects them.

This game is certainly not for 5 yearolds. I really think you should reconcider and give her a game more suited to her age.

I laugh at my self cause I get angry at people over the forums, sigh. Whatever, This doesnt sound bad to me, if she can handle it, I guess your good. Its not like blood and spraying all over and heads are blowing off. Hell, when you shoot someone dust comes off them =\ I highly doubt that people will go shoot up schools cause they "SAW" it in a game. i **THINK** most shootings are bully related, not game related. ( lol, "I just played GTA:SA, nwo im going to wear a dew rag, grab a shotgun or pistol and shoot hoes, cause they didnt pay their money.")

What next, after playing "school" with her friends she'll think has an educational degree? If humans were that stupid, we wouldn't be able to walk or talk.

The only way he's a bad parent is by telling his daughter to forgive someone who tked her for a jet.

EDIT: And yes, I hope if she's in highschool and one of her fellow class mates shoots her, she shoots back. But funny you only apply the second part to reality (meaning getting shot in a digital universe is just someone else annoying you while shooting someone in a digital universe is shooting someone in real life). I love how people say video games encourage people to be murders but never the heroic soldiers who save the world from destruction you actually play as (most times).

                            That is really ignorant thinking.

5 year olds percieve things differently than we do. They are affected by these things with out even knowing it. They do not grow up wanting to shoot people, but when they are angry BF2 pops into their mind. That leads to shooting. Now, of course everyone does not take their thoughts into action, but you have to admit that when the idea is their and someone is in a fit of rage (which all people get into at some time) then their is a real possibility of them taking action.

Im only saying this because I think it is important for parents to know that those things DO affect children, espeicially under 10 or even 12. And it has nothing to do with being dumn or smart when you are in a fit of anger, it just has to do with what pops into your head and if you have been playing a shooter game sense 5 years old (with your father's encouragement) then it becomes much more rectified.

Unless you constantly tell your children the things that are wong are wrong, then they will believe they are right. Allowing (and encouraging) violent games at a young age increases the chances of that child acting violent inthe future, its a fact.

You are asking for a world of hurt from your fellow TBF2'ers. As I originally stated, it's pointless for you or I to make this argument on a gaming forum because it's not in a gamer's best interest to believe it.

Its much easier to shoot someone than squash them... Think about it.
