Well if you had no success that means i am screwed too.

I called belkin twice which ended with the CSR finally saying he would send me an email which never came.

Does staples take back routers with no box?

I'm using a Linksys BEFSR81 8 port router with 5 computers and 1 printer connected. We (my family) can all be on the net at the same time with no problems. I am also kind of remote compared to the rest of the world (Anchorage) and don't have many ping problems. Oh how I love technology.

Re: Multiple computers behind router - problems with multiplayer

        Hey guys,

I'm having a similar problem. I have a friend that comes over and brings his gaming laptop for some bitchin bf2 fun, but some problems come up...

        my network setup:

        Internet Connection from cable company
        |
Linksys Router (its a fairly new one, unsure of exact model)
        |
12 Port 10/100 3-Com HUB (have since replaced this with a d-link gigabit switch)

Now, if we both plug into my Hub, and get a local IP's from my router, one person will get disconnected shortly after we both get into a game.

However, I have 2 static IP's with my internet connection. So what we have to do, is change my network config so it looks like this (But i don't like doing it, as its a pain in the butt changing wires around and such):

        Internet Connection from cable company
        |
12 Port 10/100 3-Com HUB (have since replaced this with a d-link gigabit switch)
        |
Linksys Router (its a fairly new one, unsure of exact model)

We do this, so that he can plug into the Hub (i still go through the router) and he can get a static IP straight from the modem. (My router uses the other)

When we do this, everything works perfect. So its not an issue of the internet connection not being able to handle the load.

I was thinking the ports are not being passed properly due to NAT or something, but from the sounds of it, many of you are having multiple players behind a router and its working fine?

Hopefully we're gonna give my new gigabit switch a test run in the next few weeks. If that works, it just means my super old 3com hub is dying.

        Anyone have any similar experiences?

        Thanks!

        Jeff
