u wanna know what settings i run on my 9800 pro 128mb?

800x600, all low settings except for effects and geometry. even if so, the game still crashes like a b1tch when i fly jets.

then something is wrong cause i play the same res as u with everything at med with a 9600XT and it runs sm000000000th.

I'm now running BF2 at 1600 x 1200 on my widescreen LCD. It runs great except for when I get shell shock and it's about 1fps and totally unplayable. Is there any way of turning this effect down or off preferrable. I'm not trying to cheat, if I get shellshock I expect some kind of visual penaity but 1fps isn't the penalty I'm after, the only way round that I can find is to turn my res right down (which is crap on a 24" widescreen).

The other obvious solution is to upgrade my graphics card but I can't afford that so any useful suggestions are appreciated.

I'm running a Radeon 9800 128Mb Pro in case you were wondering.

That is like putting $5,000 rims on a 1987 Chevy Cavalier with 200,000 miles on the engine...Set your resolution to 1152x864, or just run the game at your monitors native resolution. Furthermore, I would start looking around on Ebay for a better graphics card if a new pricey one is out of the question. You can get a Nvidia card for under $150 that will be a lot better than that 9800, I know from experience I had that card and traded it for a better one. Turning off shell shock would be and should be considered the same as turning off fog.

Yeh I could get a new one now but I didn't think it was worth it unless I went for an Nvidia SLI card and for that I need to change my mobo, then I'm changing everything that attaches to my mobo.

I could really do without the lame ass shellshock effect myself. It sounds retarded and incredibly annoying. Even a small tiny grenade going off makes your ears ring. The effect is not even as well done as other games like HL2 etc. DICE should remove this effect or change it to make it more pleasing to the ears.
