This is a link to a video of a man firing 850 rounds out of an M60 with a single trigger pull. He shoots for 1min 45sec straight without stopping. Notice how tight his cone of fire is while proned. This is what the m60 should do in BF2 if you are prone. His spray isn't all over the place, its maybe within a 6ft radius. I never play as the support class because the gun is worthless.

Well the game can't be that realistic. Otherwise, everyone would be using that weapon and people would soon start to complain it's too good of a gun.

It's all about balance's sake in BF2. EA believes the current accuracy with the LMGs balances the support class out with all other classes.

I don't agree with it either so I'm hoping it is fixed somehow.

LMGs in JO:TR were close to spot on. You could crouch, give 1-2 burst and take down someone with accuracy.

I mean if you're proning then the gun should definately be very accurate but you should be slow to prone and slow to unprone that way it'd fix it. It just doesn't make sense that a tripoded machine gun is so inaccurate. Maybe they add a option to mount the gun on the tripod to make it accurate and you have to unpod it to get up again. The purpose of a support gunner is to lay down suppressing fire so that his units can move without fear of the enemy firing at them. But with how inaccurate this gun is, nobody is scared of the M60 because they know its really hard to hit anything with it.

The LMGs will be more accurate with the next patch.
But theres no M60 ingame

A deployed machinegun has 100% accuracy, you just aim the crosshair and fire, but, its otherwise with the handheld ones, they are way accurate because of recoil.

There is no M60 in BF2....there is: M249(US) Type95(Chinese) RPK(MEC)

I don't like the M60 anyways, the M240G is much better. More accurate, much more reliable, and it has a faster cyclic rate of fire (1000rpm opposed to 550rpm, in other words, it could go through 1000 bullets per minute). Anyways, i like using the LMGs in game, but only the PKM and the MG36, the rest cramp my style.
