I agree with the first post, I avoid open maps because all too often one side has the superior pilots and having the "rudeness" to actually get into a vehicle brings death in less than 30 seconds. Actually, I only have a major problem with jets as the AAA is woeful. Helicopters can be taken down and are merely a challenge. An open map with one side having 2-3 ace pilots compared to zero on your side just plain sucks.

I just have the feelig that EA is ruining the community, but I can't help that the game is addictive

Personally, I think the Air situation is one of the reasons people are no longer playing BF2.

However, I believe the real reason is just under the surface of all these comments. The maps lack character. Let's face it, after playing them a few times, they all start to feel like the same thing.

This game has not been out very long and already people are bored, yet many of us played BF42 for years without getting bored. Bottom line, BF2 is a better game engine, it runs smoother and it has some interesting concepts. IE Squads, VoIP, Commander Mode. But the actual game is boring. That comes down to the maps.

Heck, I played BF42 Friday Night and had more fun on maps I've played forever than I had on BF2 recently.

Back in the days when I didn't have BF2, I was watching all kinds of movies, from both BF2 and BF1942. 1942 seemed to have much more of an arcade feel to it honestly.........you were there to experience some stuff.

Here you get shot all the time.....lol........not shown in vids anyway but it seems like.....yeah well Atomm is right!

Re: Why many people are quitting BF2 for good -- it's not fun anymore

I haven't played since October, because of what a huge disappointment the last patch was. The OP got it right, I quit because dominating people from the air got boring quickly, and being dominated from the ground gave me about as much pleasure as repeatedly stabbing myself in the eyeball with a blunt object.

I checked back to see what was up with the new patch. It sounds like it could make the game fun again, maybe fun enough to get me back in the game. But I know that myself and 4 friends all quit entirely because of the last patch, and if this patch isn't a colossal improvement, there's nothing that will bring us back.

I've gotten bored with airvehicle whoring, I am starting a new trend that is ****ing the planecampers off: Baseraping, a good sniper can hold down a entire teams airforce, and everyone is affraid to go hunt for me cause somebody might grab their jet!

Static AA needs to be improved. More of the AA vehicles could be added to maps with jets..

Also believe that jets should be required to land to resupply...

with over 2.5M copies sold the server numbers dont show a decrease in players at all, in fact an increase in players..

the new Euro pack dedicated to more armor type battles will pwn..

The ground-based assault motor pool is bolstered by the addition of the German Leopard 2A6 and the British Challenger 2 tanks. Both feature a mighty 120mm gun and are sure to pack a big punch. Fly-boys can look forward to taking to the skies in either the Eurocopter Tiger (Tiger HAP), as seen in the Bond film, Goldeneye, or the delta-winged Eurofighter (Typhoon T1) also known as the EF 2000

                        cant wait for it...

2.5 million copies sold; which means, EA is in the, screw the customer we have our money, mode..

I am glad you pointed out what was to be in the Euro booster pack. Seeing as how i only play Karkand, Sharqi, and Mashtuur, as they are the maps without jets. I won't have to bother purchasing the booster pack..

It's amazing - i have seen you report people for stat padding, but yet, people pad all their kits by jet whoring and that is looked on as Justified stat padding by EA.. Completely illogical..:hmm:

How is EA ruining the community? I need some clarity on this.

Have you ever tried to land any of the jets in this game? It is plausible but underfire next-to-impossible.
