Re: is there a trick to getting air defense badge?
Corrin is asking about the Badge
Air defense Basic badge does not require kills, only time. 10 minutes. (not 5)
The ribbon requires 3 minutes and 11 kills, according to bf2s.com
Re: is there a trick to getting air defense badge?
The AA guns are some of the best anti infantry weapons. Forget firing the missiles at jets, at least till the patch is out. With Helis get a lock tone wait for the inevitable flares to go then fire all 4 missiles. Tend work best close up or if the heli is far away. Check the maps to make sure no friendly aircraft are near the missiles intended path.
To get the badges the kills do not need to be aircraft.

Thanks for all the replies. I am talking about the badge. The Bf2 site says "5 minutes IAR" for this badge. If you are right about it being 10 minutes, then that explains it.

No, on Gulf of Oman that is very easy and entertaining.
On Fushe, using the PGZ or Linebacker, constantly relocating and hiding in spots that pilots don't check usually also works great and is great fun.

That is so lame...Just play a Dragon Valley map, jump in a stinger at the either base, and try to get commander. If you are on a 64 player server then chances are you will have more time to rack up points as well. It works trust me.
Re: is there a trick to getting air defense badge?
I got mine on Kubra dam -
We had beaten the MEC back to the spawn point on the far side of the dam only and I was in a linebacker. Got my kill streak of 36 before they ran out of tickets. Its one of those rare instances where 4-5 players, without voice comm, all have the same idea about not capturing the flag and draining their team of tickets before we win.

For the kill version I got it on Dragon Valley 64 person as China. That one island near the middle has 3 AA launchers on it. I just fired 2 shots at a cobra, ran to the next fired those, then ran to the next. They never knew which one was being fired at em til I was already at another one. By the end of the round I had shot down 17 Cobras. Niether their flares nor the crappy missile coding could stop it, it was just the sheer amount of them in the air at once, pretty much guarantees that atleast 2 will hit.
Pretty dumb remark, with ADD you would get the badge really fast, so in 5 minutes. So BF2 has to be Slow disorder.
