It's sort of an invisible score, if you do get a badge, the kills wont count but you will earn the badge. You can still get the badge by getting the kills.

The arty kills score come into affect if you earn something. Also it is possible to get kills for arty, fire arty then resign and they will count as normal kills but you will have to apply again, gheh technique.

Also,...the post about nothing speeding it up isn't true. When somebody requests a UAV, Supply drop, or Artillary Barage, and you accept, you get 1 point for each. Many a time have I finished as commander well above the average players score due to those things.

Just goes to prove that no matter how much you try to help people, some will just go on believing what they want to believe :)

            *sigh*

This is false, there is absolutely no direct way for commanders to earn themselves a point without the effort or work from his team. This means that you will never get 1 points directly off from accepting requests by squad leaders. Instead, these requests will aid the squad leaders and his squad to earn more points. Furthermore, artillery kills will rob you of more commander points since each kill from you, the commander, either means shortening the round, or/and one less kill + kill assists for your teammates who could've earned points for you.

Look here and how commanders gets point. I also have to agree of whoever pointed out that no matter how many times people try to correct other's belief, they will always be present.

I think its impossible for a number of reasons.

1: Combat score relies completely on kills made, therefore the points you earn in round as com are sometimes negligable compared to the points gained from arty kills.

2: Ingame kills from arty no longer count as points earned, thus negating factor 1

3: I have not seen my global kills gone up from arty, therefore negating not only factors 1 AND 2, but also contradicting what EA posted would be factual in 1.03 and beyond.

To me this situation is all one monumental screw up. Does EA want to reward us for arty kills, or not?

Can they make up their ****ing minds already? Please?
They DO count towards your global points only. The only kills that count in a round are if you kill someone as a commander with something other than artillery. However you don't get points for your kills, flags, nor anything else when you are commander. The commander points are average of your team points.

                  Re: Commander kills

Although I disagree with the point about UAV requests giving points, I have definitely seen myself as commander gaining points before anyone else on my team has gained any.

If it is true that the only way commanders get points is the average of their team then in that case commanders can NEVER be placed 1st in a server. e.g. if someone scores 50 points and everyone else scores 10 then there is no possible way I can exceed 50 if my only points come from the average. Yet commanders frequently do come top.

Furthermore, the point boost IS applied at the end of the round. I've screenshoot proof that I've been 3rd or 4th for most of the round then as soon as it ends I finish top.

                  The formula isn't that simple.

                    Re: Commander kills

Commanders come in first because win their team has a high avergae, they get a x2 if they win, this will usual;ly exceed the highest scorer on the team, of course there's always exceptions like the first place scorer getting a ridiculous score, and everyone else getting normal scores.

Partially correct. Arty kills do not count as kills for the Commander in the Round Scoreboard, nor do they equate to any points in the Round Scoreboard. However, as you state they do count both in your Total Kills stats and they count in your Global Points total at the rate of 2 points per kill. I know this to be fact because I have had days where I did nothing but play CO. By BF2 stats would show the arty kills and the associated points for those kills in my Global Score. As for how they are accounted for in the kits, the kills are tied to whatever kit you're playing when you're commander.

What is incorrect about your response is after "However". A Commander's score is comprised of his/her Command Points and regular round combat/teamwork points. If the CO does nothing but stay in the Command Screen, it's pretty simple. If however, the CO is a fighting Commander and during the course of the round caps flags, kills enemies, revives, heals, etc., he does get a regular round score for that. If his team loses, his score = Command Points + Regular Round Score. If the CO's team wins the round, his final score = (Commander Points X 2) + regular Round Score. Only the Commander Points get the 2X multiplier.

                        no ! NO ! AND NO !

WHEN YOU ARE COMMANDER, IT IS ONLY THE AVERAGE OF POINTS EARNED BY YOUR TEAM THAT AFFECT YOUR SCORE.

And thats why it is frowned upon when your weeing off in the frontlines. You DONT get double points for a kill.

Ugh, can you clarify on that? You are implying that commanders who are active in the battlefield do get additional points than commanders than stay behind the lines which is false. Although the code may agree with your statement of how bonuses are calculated, the formula isn't reflected in-game. As far as the game goes, the bonus is more like:

Command Points earned + Regular Round Score

From this, I am able to predict my total score as a commander on the winning team.

And the commander can't be belgian. THat would be FREAKING PANCAKES!

Can someone please sum up the points made so far? From what I've read, you dont get any in-round points for kills, but arty kills do get counted for global kills, and therefore global points..

And what's this about regular round score? That's bs, I was com on sharqui once, with over 50 kills (from tank whoring, ill have you know) and i ended up with only about 80 points overall.

Thats also not counting the times i revived and healed, resupply w/e and gotten dicksquat for it.

                              Am I missing something?

Global kills does not relate to Global points

Just accept that and you'll achieve harmony regarding this subject.
Regular Round score is just the score that you "see" in the scoreboard, the command points are actually "hidden" from the scoreboard until the end of the game.
